Fall Dog Bombs the Moon new

Holy moly, it's literally been 3 years since I've last logged onto this message board and been back here. University life dragged me away from Bowie and I stopped being so obsessed about his music...but here I am, finishing up 3rd year and I'm getting back into it all. A wonderful feeling. What isn't a wonderful feeling is missing his concert here in Vancouver in Jan...I'm kicking myself in the head for that one...BUT...that's not what I wanted to post about!

I was wondering if anyone could clarify what Fall Dog Bombs the Moon is about? I usually find Bowie's lyrics to be confusing...but this is REALLY confusing. Can anyone help me?

I think this remains the definitive interpretation to date. The rest of the thread is probably worth reading too.

Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread

The song was written about Beltene, a registered user at TW.

Re: Fall Dog Bombs the Moon new [re: marichankitty]

also...

The Fall Dog is that friend of the people George Bush, & Co (corporate ties and wigs etc):
What a Dog (dog:someone who is morally reprehensible; "you dirty dog")

Coinciding with probable timing of writing the song - George Bush's missile was the 'Devil in the (busy) maket place (in Bagdad)...bleeding faces that now newly express the devil as they have just had their friends and families destroyed - the birth of a new so-called ' terrorist'

I'm God damn rich - yes they are

An exploding man - yes there were, and are men and women and children exploded

When I talk in the night - his conscience makes him talk out loud in his unsettled sleep

There's oil on my hands - well, there is certainly that - similar to ' Blood on his hands'

The Moon..... might as well bomb the Moon as it is a place as far removed from home or affairs at home as Iraq metaphor for a place disconnectely far away in reality and true life....huh?A

I'll make you a deal - just like any other candidate
