heathen album cover new

any thoughts?

does it have to do with techniques of encoding messages? -the crossed eyes and 'heathen' written upside down.

i read once about the mayans doing something like that and the buddah having 'squinting' eyes in order to see things that we couldn't.

also, this probably isn't the place or whatever, but with both Heathen and Reality, do you see with him an intrest in Takashi Murakami's stuff?

I did have some thoughts on it when it first came out. Interesting comments from eraserhead and ohramona on this thread as well...
My favourite album cover of all time btw...

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned by Nick Pegg, or even here at TW before, but Bowie stated in a fairly recent interview that the Heathen's eyes were fishes eyes, as fish were one of the symbols used by primitive Christians amongst the prevailing paganism of the time. A Bowie pun on Christianity apparently.

I'll leave the meaning of the cover open to interpretation, but I am very interested in Takashi. I'm thinking of having him design my next album cover.

The album will be 6 feet tall.

Bye-bye, we love you

Man, I like Sailor better than the real David Bowie.

Unless he really is the real David Bowie, which I find highly probable. In which case my above comment cannot be true.
