Re: D.J. new [re: Scary Monsters]

I've recently realized many of the Bowie lyrics included in the sleeve notes are terribly inaccurate and it's getting very difficult to tell which ones are really the correct ones.

As for misheard lyrics, this one is a non-Bowie lyric and also *not intentionally* misheard, but I thought it was funny when I realized it - when I heard Weezer's "Hash pipe" for the first time, I thought they were singing "I've got my house wife". Well it sounded just like it!!

Pälä, pälä, pälä, pam. Pälä, pälä, pälä.

Time flies when you're having fun new [re: Scary Monsters]

Oh yeah, tit? How 'bout, "Humbled by a winter fruit"? That's how I heard it for years. I've heard of winter squash, but winter fruit?

By the way, you and twister have my blessing.

Oh, how I muse new [re: power2charm]

And at the moment I'm musing at the amount of misheard lyrics that seem better then the original ones.

Especially the : Although I've seen a lesser age of Rain

Instead of : Or the Knives that Lacerate your Brain

If only Bowie had of thought of the former one, he would surely have adopted it, I think it's brilliant.

only small things from the peak.

"Let's speak lilacs for the passingtime.."

How does it go really, in My death? "Let's pick lilacs for the passing time"? Or what?

I just found this at http://www.amiright.com/misheard/artist/bowiedavid.shtml and I think this is really good, it makes so much sense:

I laughed a long needed laugh,

I've loved all I've needed love

There're some real gems on there:

Clown control to Mao Tse-tung (Space Oddity)

It's not the side-effects of her cooking (S2S)

Making love with his eagle (Ziggy)

Re: Oh, how I muse new [re: discipel]

Here's one that had me going until very recently:

I see electic tornados

Instead of I see elecric tomatoes

I never wondered how tornados could be on ryebread either, but some of the lyrics are really out there, so it didn't bother me.

And anyway the whole reason I didn't hear it right was because everyone knows it's pronounced tom-are-toes

A Kick Inside the Head new [re: Xander]

This is from the Kate Bush album "Kick Inside" (one of the best albums ever made). In her "Saxaphone Song" she sings:

Tuning in to your saxaphone

Which is a nice bit of imagery considering what the song is about. But on the lyric sheet I read the other day it says:

Tuning in your saxaphone

Which sent me into hysterics. I just imagined a fat guy sat on a stool in the corner of the room tuning in his sax, which really didn't go well with the song.

Water which is too pure has no fish

In reply to:

Oh how I agree!!! I was just listening to that CD Sunday morning. She's one of my *3* favorite artists. Btw, she spells saxaphone saxophone, but does it matter?
