Bowie rarity set... [list thread]

OK, here's the deal: EMI has finally come to their senses and decided to release a set of Bowie rarities to get more cash from the fans. Because they have no idea of what to release, they have asked you to come up with a good tracklisting for them. Because they have decided to open their rather sizeable wallets, you have the access to all material Bowie has ever recorded. However, because EMI also wants to be able to get more money from the fans later on, they are not willing to release everything they've got. Instead, the tracklisting you're asked to make is limited to 30 tracks. No more, no less. The only restriction you have been given about how to select the tracks is that you cannot use tracks that have appeared on an original album release. Hence, all bonus tracks added later are acceptable (as are Too Dizzy and the bonus tracks on the original BTWN release, because they're not available on the present-day releases of these albums). Everything else is at your disposal.
So, your task is to compile the 30 best Bowie rarities you know. Do not pay attention to those hardcore Bowie fans who start complaining about your tracks, thinking that everyone has them because they happen to have them on a limited edition, semi-official, luminous 10" vinyl that was only available in 1981 in South Africa, sold in a certain store only to people who have 11 toes. Just ignore those people.
(I hope that was clear enough, I got a bit carried away. It'll be interesting to see what people select. My selections will be here shortly).

Where does this piece of information come from? If it's true, I'm disappointed. When a Brazilian music paper interviewed Bowie in 1999, he said he was planning a rarities set which would include some amazing stuff that had never been heard before even on MP-3. Now, asking us fans to select tracks that WE KNOW is a limitation in itself, isn't it?
P.S. - Alright, I was the next one to get carried away. I get it now. This is purely hypothetical.

DISC ONE
The opening songs are 1966 live material by The Lower Third. Apparantly, some of these concerts were broadcast by Radio London so there is likely to be some recordings. The first was a rock interpretation from a rather grand classical symphony - Gustov Holst's The Planets and was the closing song. The second was originally from the Mary Poppins soundtrack and - as mentioned by Pegg - would surely blow The Laughing Gnome out of the water.
1. Mars the Bringer of War (Live)
2. Chim Chim Cheree (Live)
Bowie's songwriting went up a few cogs in 1968. Even though there are quite a few (known of) tracks to choose from, I figure the next four must have been the choice material seeing they were selected for a 1968 solo album.
3. Cest La Vue
4. Angel Angel Grubby Face
5. Revered Raymond Brown
6. Threepenny Joe
The following song was the b-side of Ching-a-Ling which doesn't give me great hope, however, being produced by Visconti must allow it some interest. Bowie also did some very interesting covers around this time - Van Morrison, Leonard Cohen, Frank Zappa and Bob Dylan so this song better be good:
7. Back to Where You've Never Been 1968 song performed by Feathers.
A couple reasons for this next one. Firstly, another album outtake - Conversation Piece - sat in the vaults for 20 odd years and is a very fine song. Secondly - like the aforementioned track - this was re-recorded for Toy.
8. Hole in the Ground Outtake from Space Oddity
The next 7-8 tracks are pretty straight forward. It maintains the Ernie Johnson rock opera in it's entirety.
9. Tiny Tim
10. Where's the Loo?
11. Season Folk
12. Just One Moment Sir
13. Various Times of the Day (Suite)
14. Ernie Boy
15. This is My Day / Untitled
DISC TWO
There wasn't as much rationing on this disc seeing there were less songs to choose from post 1970. But these tracks are merited in that most of them were recorded in association with excellent albums and Bowie's peak as a songwriter.
1. Only One Paper Left 1972 outtake from Ziggy Stardust
2. It's Gonna Rain Again 1972 outtake from Ziggy Stardust
3. Black Hole Kids 1972 outtake from Ziggy Stardust (Stage Show?)
4. Wilderness 1973/74 song from the aborted stage adaption of 1984.
5. Tragic Moments 1973/74 era. An album long musical in one act.
6. The Gouster 1974 rumoured song. Outtake from Young Americans.
7. Do The Ruby 1974 Demo written for Bette Midler.
8. Moving On 1975 Acoustic demo from aborted Iggy Pop sessions. Bowie penned this when Iggy was out of the studio.
9. Subterraneans (Demo) 1975 outtake from aborted The Man Who Fell to Earth soundtrack.
10. Is There Life After Marriage? 1980 Outtake from the Scary Monsters sessions. Bowie and Iggy share vocals.
11. I Feel Free 1981 outtake recorded with Queen.
12. The Wedding (Demo) 1992 version of this song composed for Bowie and Iman's wedding (without percussion)
13. Inside 1995 outtake from Outside. A long operatic piece never edited to a 'reasonable length'.
14. Mother 1998 cover song recorded for an unreleased Lennon Tribute album. Produced by Tony Visconti.
15. Miss America High 2000 era song, possibly an outtake from Toy.

From what I've heard, Sysiyos list is the most appealing. But then again I haven't even heard of some of the stuff that you're mentioning Adam. Guess that would actually make your list more rare. If I were to make a list, I would have made mine quite similar to Sysiyo's. I would try not to include songs like Space Oddity or Ashes To Ashes, cause I don't consider them such rarities since they're not that different from the originals (that everyone's heard a lot of times). I would rather include Shadowman (original version) and Tired Of My Life.

Adam's list gets my vote hands down. I would never choose tracks previously available on (official) CD if I had the chance to select real rarities.
Let me see if I can compile my own list (I'll stick to tracks that I know to exist in releasable quality):
Disc 1:
1) That's a Promise 2) Silly Boy Blue (alternate version) 3) London Bye Ta Ta (1968 version) 4) Little Toy Soldier 5) Rupert the Riley 6) Right on Mother 7) Ragazzo Solo, Ragazza Sola 8) Holy Holy (real 1970 version) 9) Man in The Middle 10) Looking for a Friend 11) Tired of My Life 12) Shadowman 13) A Lad in Vain (or whatever it's actually titled) 14) The Jean Genie (w/Jeff Beck - Ziggy Farewell) 15) Round and Round (Ziggy Farewell)
Disc 2
1) 1984-Dodo (1980 Floor Show) 2) Panic in Detroit (live 1974 - B-side) 3) It's Gonna Be Me (live) 4) John, I'm Only Dancing (Again) (live) 5) Medley (with Cher) 6) The Man Who Sold The World (Saturday Night Live) 7) TVC 15 (live 1983) 8) I Can't Explain (live 1983) 9) Bang Bang (live 1987 - EMI promo CD EP) 10) Scary Monsters (live 1987) 11) The Jean Genie/Gloria (live 1990) 12) Pretty Pink Rose (live 1990 w/Adrian Belew) 13) Queen Bitch (live with Lou Reed - 50th Birthday concert) 14) Bring Me The Disco King (Black Tie, White Noise outtake) 15) Bring Me The Disco King (Earthling outtake)

I think those two versions are too good to be skipped, even though I tried to avoid live tracks.

Well, my point also was that you should have heard all the tracks you're listing... but apparently I forgot to say that. And Adam would probably have made that same list anyway, regardless of what I say.

I don't think anyone's going to be able to top that list, though it's questionable whether it would all fit on two CDs (Inside probably needs a whole one to itself).
