I got The Buddha of Suburbia for Christmas!!!

I got The Buddha of Suburbia -cd from my boyfriend. And apart from telling everyone how much I LOVE my boyfriend, I want to ask a few questions:
How difficult it actually is to find that cd? I mean, I've been asking about it in a few second hand music stores, and the answer's been that they don't even make new copies of that album anymore. Is that true? And, if so, why?
I've also been looking for the album on some internet-stores and for example on eBay the prices have gone up really fast.
So, if the album actually is really difficult to get, how many of you actually have it? How and where did you get it?

In ten years of visiting new and used cd shops I've seen the album ONCE. I bought it immediately.

Some of the tracks are available on the new S&V box and one track is on the BOB DVD. So the music is becoming slightly more available to the world.

If you are on ebay or amazon one can affordably procure a copy with a slight amount of patience.

I purchased the CD when it was first released in a regular chain record store so when it was released I don't believe it was hard to find at all.

Well ain't that poster love?

And you should for that alone. In about 3 and a half years of collecting, I've accumulated all of the Rykos bar Diamond Dogs (which I've seen around at overinflated prices) and Stage (which, along with Oy Vey, Baby I've never seen). The only copy of The Buddha Of Suburbia I've seen for sale was in a bargain bin (thus not on the computer catalogue) which I only found thanks to a tipoff from a fellow TWer who worked at the shop. So, yes, it's rare but well worth the money if you can find a copy.

Re: I got The Buddha of Suburbia for Christmas!!! [re: LadyGravedigger]

It was released in 1993 (in Europe, 1995 in the US) and after those times no new copies have been printed. I've seen the album on sale once (even though I'm a frequent visitor in used-record stores), and was foolish enough not to buy it. Luckily later a friendly TWer burned me a copy of it.

But speaking of rare albums... Tin Machine II and Oy Vey, Baby are both basically non-existent, both originating from the early 90's and having no reprints made after that. Before the recent re-release, Black Tie White Noise was nearly impossible to find. The same also goes to the Europen pressings of 1. Outside (american pressing were heavily imported, though).

The difference is clearly in the market value of these albums. The Buddha of Suburbia is hard to spot and expensive, while Tin Machine 2 is very easy to purchase secondhand at a low price on the web. I replaced my TM2 cassette with a CD a few weeks ago but haven't been able to do the same with Buddha.

I asked Santa if I could have The Buddah of Suburbia at Xmas but he said that most copies were believed to be in Iraq and obtaining any of them would be difficult.

I actually got my "The Buddha Of Suburbia"-CD two days before christmas at ebay-Germany. I still don't have it but I'm really looking forward. I paid 19 (it's about 20$). So I really hope it is worth the price.
