Will Bowie's daughter become a star? Yes, she will

Current photos of Bowie's daughter Alexandria reveal a preternaturally beautiful child. She looks like a female David Bowie. Actually, she is even more beautiful and powerful than David.

Will Alexandria want to become famous? Will she inherit the musical talent from her father, David Bowie?

Do you think that Alex will naturally gravitate toward the acoustic guitar and piano and start writing songs? Will she become transfixed by artists such as Sara Mclaughlin and Kate Bush and realize that's exactly what she wants to do?

Or will she end up like Bowie's son, living a happy, obscure life?

I feel that she will be the next David Bowie, stunning us with her music and material. Bowie will live on, through his daughter. Alexandria Bowie will truly be Bowie's Daughter.

There is a slightly different dynamic to Duncan and that is.....Alexandria has not one but TWO famous parents. This may gravitate her more toward the public eye.

Re: I hope so new [re: Adam]

With all due respect to this forum, I'm not sure if everyone has considered the ramifications and possibilities of a beautiful, Bowie daughter.

Consider that many musical acts have imitated David Bowie. Alex does not need to imitate Bowie because, with the same genetic material as her father, she is David Bowie, in a manner of speaking.

Consider that many musical acts such as Britney Spears have succeeded on beauty alone. There's a good possibility that Alex will have such beauty, plus her father's artistic genius .

Consider that many Bowie fans, including myself, will already be fascinated with Alex because she is Bowie's daughter, and we will see the same riddles, paradoxes, and puns that have infused Bowie's songs.

Will Alex become a star? If she wants to, yes.

She is indeed a beautiful child,With two FAB looking parents,My guess is she will do as she pleases?,I cannot see Bowie or Iman telling the child what future to persue.

Can I see a picture, please?

Well. Fred Astaires children couldn't dance...
And what about Sean Lennon and Julian Lennon. People want them to be the next Lennon, but they aren't and they can't.
Bowies daughter is her own person, and maybe she will get no talents at all...

Well, I hope she doesn't try to hard. Remember there have been more failures than sucesses. Look at Rolan Bolan. But nonetheless I wish her well.

....Isn't this a lot of be dumping on a three year old? I can't help but be reminded of Maggie Simpson dressing up as Britney Spears, yeesh.

After all, isn't talent supposed to skip a generation?

Well i should imagine with parents like Bowie and Iman she will undoubtably enter the world of the arts in some aspect?.Unless she dislikes that sort of life?,Who knows shes only three years old!!!,But parents naturally protect their young,She might even shun the world of bright lights?.

That's not always true. Imagine growing up in an artistic atmosphere, with people like Brian Eno dandling you on their knee, imagine how that would affect your whole personality and perspective on things. . .

Yet I don't think Alexandria will take her father's path, she'd be too smart for that. Remember her grandfather on her mother's side is a diplomat. Her mother wanted to be one too at first, but then she realized she'll be making more money as a model. Iman sacrificed her dream so that her children won't have to.

...the reason of the unreason with which my reason is afflicted so weakens my reason that with reason I murmur at your beauty;..

Well either way, I think we all agree that for sure, she will turn out gorgeous (and very very smart)!

When Bowie's in his 70's and Alex is done with school(yes, that is the math!!) she could tour the world with songs her dad composes. All DB would do is write songs and stay at home.

There are other artists who have ghostwriters, or are dependant on certain at-home composers.

Actually, Julian was ripped apart by accusations that he sounded like his father, so I'd say that's the last thing anyone wants. Anyway, since we're talking about his daughter, I think should she also aspire to create music, she'd be treated better by the media because of her gender.

Re: Like Father Like Son new [re: poorsoul]

I don't think so. First, because she's still a bit too young to be taking on that much work and, second, because, with the exceptions of Iman and Angela, the rest of Bowie's family have lived rather anonymous lives. It's a wait-see thing. She could be a star like her parents, but will she want to have to work that much harder to come out from under their shadows?

Yes. I mean, look at Kelly Osbourne! But unlike her, I am almost absolutely sure that Bowie's daughter must be talented, but still, she'll have a lot of pressure on her if everyone thinks she'll be like her father. And even if she actually was as talented as her father, and became famous, still there would probably be people telling that she was famous only because of her parents.

As long as she doesn't end up like Ally Hilfiger and Jaime Gleicher, the Rich Girls on MTV, I'll be happy.

Funny you should mention that Hilfiger brat. I was thinking about David and Iman's upcoming Hilfiger photo ads that will hit magazines this Spring. And I was thinking just how differently that Hilfiger brat has grown up compared to say, Zowie/Duncan. David seems to win the parenting award hands down compared to Tommy. I'm therefore fairly certain that Lexie will NOT end up like these rich brats devoid of all talent and mooching off their parents' fame/celebrity. Duncan turned out great, and he largely had one parent (David) for most of his life. I'm sure Lexie will be even better off in a loving, two-parent household. I expect her to grow up to be a beautiful, confident, and talented young woman--and it matters not a hill of beans if her talents lie in music or whether she choses a career where she shares her talents with her father's fans. What matters is that she will likely be a far better adjusted young adult that some of these rich brats like the Hilfiger twat and that Paris HiIton bitch.

Oh god, why did you have to mention Paris? That's a truly horrible thought: Someone as vapid as that prancing around all slutty with the name Bowie attached sickens me no end. I mean sure he pranced around all slutty for a spell, but that was for the sake of the Arts. (Buchwald and Garfunkle, I think it was)

But you're right: literate, involved parents would be incapable of raising such an empty shell of humanity.

Re: Will Bowie's daughter become a star? Yes, she will new [re: tonyinsf]

I agree. I laugh when he occasionally states at interviews that he has a bit of the "victorian father" in him. I can see him being rather strict, oddly. Also, I recall once that, in speaking about his relationship with Zowie/Duncan, he stated that he and his son get on very well but he wouldn't use the word "friends" to describe their relationship, because he thinks its so cliche for parents to want to be "friends" with their children instead of handling their parental authority properly. He then added that his relationship with Duncan is "still one of father and son, and it will always be."

I like that. I'm sure Lexie will grow up just fine--and I suspect she'll have to deal with a rather overprotective father as she enters her teen years. Boy, David's not going to be a very happy bloke when that happens.

I have a neice that is almost 6 and already dread the day she'll sprout boobies and bring boys around. When you love a child, it is very difficult to allow them to grow up.

As sad as that day will be,Lets hope its way off yet,Bowie is one healthy guy and always looks after himself,But when Mr Bowie shuffles off this mortal coil?,There will be no body to take his place,He is a one off,You cannot simply hand down a talent like that,Its a rediculous suggestion,And one i hope was a joke?.

She Could Make it all Worthwhile new [re: pianocraft]

According to an article in the Australian Women's Weekly:

Even at her tender age, Lexie is showing some musical inclination.

"She loves dancing. She is terribly physical and mad for anything athletic ... running and dancing and getting bruises."

"And she has a fairly insatiable curiosity, which I recognise."

"She is a lovely, lively child ... but I'm going all gooey now, aren't I?"

Lovely. I like that "which I recognize" line. Bowie is seeing himself in his little sprout. How fun that must be!
