Stones.
I appreciate the contribution (obviously) that Beatles have made, however, my choice is purely based on what I prefer to listen to and what have more fun with.

No question...Beatles
Mick and Keef didn't even think about writing their own stuff untill they watched John and Paul rip off "I wanna be your man" in minutes. Jagger was inspired by Lennon. No band has produced as much inspiration in many ways as the Beatles did. And to think it was all done in 7 years of recording. Incidentally i am biased, i'm also a scouser. For those who don't know, a scouser is a native of Liverpool.

As a band they released some of the most interesting lyrics and albums (post Sgt. Pepper's)
How could you not include Revolver in that statement? Surely Tomorrow Never Knows alone would qualify it.

Not to mention the fact that The Beatles helped The Stones release their first proper single.

Of course I vote for the Beatles.
The Beatles were seminal. The Stones were just a great rock'n'roll band. They happen to enjoy a slight rush of popularity right now because of their world tour (are they still out?) and because of the rather recent garage rock craze. In fact, I think the pendulum swung over in the past ten years, because the Beatles were very hot by the beginning of the nineties.
Everybody... Of all the posts in this forum, this particular post will remain with me the longest.

The Beatles wrote the book. The Stones ripped out the pages.
