The Bowie In Dublin Promo - I Am Totally Gone
|
|
|
This is fantastic stuff. FANTASTIC! I am listening to "Life On Mars" from the Promo of the two "A Reality" nights in Dublin. This is indcredible stuff. Fantastic sound with an excellent mix of the audience frenzy. Oh dear, how I wish I had been there. This CD includes 14 tracks and is probably meant as an appetizer for the upcoming DVD. God, I can't wait. The grand Bowie live album I have been longing for for such a long time. This sounds as it will be the real cracker.
The tracks are
Rebel Rebel New Killer Star Reality Fame Cactus Afraid All The Young Dudes (fantastic, fantastic!) China Girl The Loneliest Guy The Man Who Sold The World Hallo Spaceboy (brilliant, brilliant) Life On Mars (I am still in tears) Under Pressure Heroes
Love it!

I have had this about three weeks now and I absolutely love it, and as you say life on mars? is fantastic. When the band strike up it makes me so emotional.

I just got through listening to it not 5 minutes ago. I'm not as ga ga as you, EJ, but then I had to listen to it through the chatter of company.

Hi Tristan, if you love what he is doing at the shows right now you must like this too. If not so, then not.

I think you misunderstood my post, EJ. I didn't have the opportunity to give it my full attention as I was listening to it through the chatter of company. The sound quality is magnificent.

By the way, if anyone wants a copy of this I have Copies waiting to be traded. I am new to trading Bowie stuff and am interested in whatever people have to offer. PM me for more details. I don't think anyone who has heard this high quality recording is disappointed.

No, no, I got that - what I mean is that this will ceratinly divide TWers again. Is it too commercial? Is it the greatest stuff he has done for ages? Is he still innovative? Is he playing it safe? But for all those who have seen him on the tour and enjoyed it this must be brilliant stuff: And from your comments on that "tour ranking thread" I assume you will like it too - finally, when those bastards around you stop waffling in the presence of a Bowie reord.

Fuck all that & fuck about whatever TW divide. The man in his ripe age is defying belief with his deliverance. Bowie's latter-day performances are on par with anything he's done in the past & indeed innovative to any like-minded soul whom may share his genious. And there 'aint many of them to the pound.

Excellent stuff EJSunday. I can't wait to hear this for myself. My very strong memory of the first night in particular is how incredible Bowie's voice sounded, the best I ever heard it. Overall, the concerts were absolutely stunning. It makes the churlish comments on this tour of some of the North Americans here all the more difficult for me to relate to, as based on what I saw here in Dublin, I don't see how anyone could have a major quibble with this tour. But to be fair, I haven't seen any of the North American shows, so who knows - perhaps it's different over there.
In any case, I'm thrilled this has been recorded for posterity.
Slan leat,
Dara
