All or Nothing new [re: Emil]

Sysiyo and nigelp admitted to not being the least bit impressed

I downloaded all those snippets that 100% British offered on Bowieaudio - and deleted them the next day. May be interesting stuff for Bowie historians and manic collectors - but it is nothing for fans who want to enjoy Bowie's music. And I am into Bowie for his music.

And I want to believe

I agree - I would have enjoyed them immensely if they were whole songs, but a bunch of snippets does not make for listening pleasure. Still I do find them historically and musically interesting.

ZOOT: Oh, but you are tired and you must rest awhile. Midget! Crapper!
MIDGET and CRAPPER: Yes, O Zoot?

session or rehearsal? new [re: Emil]

I would like to clarify my previous post. Aside from the facts that snippetizing diminishing the listening pleasure. If previously unavailable tour rehearsals are unearthed, fine, that's not so big news. But if studio rerecordings of old favourites are unearthed, then it is in my opinion worth a raised eyebrow. I was under the impression that the new 1PCB tracks were the latter.

It certainly is, no doubt about that. But raising an eybrow I did only once, when I first heard those snippets. And then I asked myself if I was ever gonna listen to those few seconds of songs again and the answer was 'no'. So I wiped them off my computer.

I do not want to take away anything from the people who like to have that stuff or from the contributor himself - but for me it is not enough to make me happy. Interesting, yes - exciting, no.

That just sounds like showing off, giving snippets like that.
Either give the whole song or keep it to yourself, I say.

I wholeheartedly agree, EJ.

It's akin to having sex & pulling out prior to the vinegar strokes.

The majority of said snippets barely provide leeway to tantalization, let alone interest.

Except Outside, so I don't see how you would've enjoyed them even if they hadn't been hacked to pieces.

I got the track yesterday thanks to Sysiyo and it's already forced it's way into my "worst Bowie songs ever" list. It's right up there with '87 And Cry, Shake It, Chilly Down and Ching-A-Ling.

I can't disagree with that. Except the bit about Chilly Down. Chilly Down is good. I think we should be grateful that some songs just don't get released.

That's exactly what I said on Bowie Audio and ended up getting a lot of abuse from the 'worshippers' about how we should be grateful for any crumb that falls from the Bowie/100% plate.

I for one thought that your comments were perfectly justified, most BowieAuidoers are pretty sycophantic and when it come to 100PCB's piecemeal offerings. Our very own 96dbFreak likes to let his flowery side show over there and even then he comes accross as the hardman of the boards.

He's the son of a bad man...
