Re: Hearing Bowie in unusual places new [re: Max_M]

Once, at UCSD, I was passing by the Visual Arts Facility and heard Moonage Daydream coming down loud from one of the graduate studios there. A few hours later I passed it again, and the song was there playing again. I could only conclude that it had been on a loop the whole time.

I considered heading in to say hello to whoever was responsible for this, Bowie fans being a rare sort on that campus, but it occurred to me that the sort of mad creature who would play a song like that on a loop, loud for hours on end, was quite probably not a true kindred spirit.

To be equal you have to add or subtract and I have never liked math.

On 22nd of the current month onboard the Baltic Sea cruise ferry Gabriella I was shocked to hear If I'm Dreaming My Life played on the loudspeakers of the ship's pub as she was in port in Stockholm (I was actually very surprised of how good it sounded when played out of context of the album. Due to not having listened to Bowie in a while, I initially thought it was a track from Heathen, not Hours). Later the same day they also played Bowie & Bring Crosby's Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy.

MY main local supermarket Morrisons, have lately been playing the "Young Americans" single, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry and of course the Bowie/Bing Christmas song.

The other day I called my bank and while they put me on hold I had to endure a bad cover version of "Life on Mars?". A few hours later I called my ISP and I had to endure a bad cover version of "Heroes" : I hung up before talking to anyone for I was going crazy.

Any idea as to who murdered these Bowie classics?

Re: Hearing Bowie in unusual places [re: diamondogz74]

"Days" was playing at A.C. Moore earlier tonight. That's the first time I've ever heard a Bowie song in a public place that wasn't "Changes". I think I got a few weird looks because of the stupid grin on my face.

Oh, and I almost forgot that I heard a clip of "Thursday's Child" on Daria today. Plus, I've seen another episode recently that has "I'm Afraid of Americans" playing during the credits.

Damnit! Ok, this is the last time I edit this post, I swear. I just heard "Rebel Rebel" during a commercial for the movie "Failure to Launch".

Is everyone supposed to stop in silence for the three to four minutes the track plays for in your opinion then?
