"Has nobody here read the book? It's superb and beats the film by miles (and solves the dubbing problems).
yes, the book is excellent. i only have the german version (is there an english translation? i hope it's better than the english dubbing on the dvd).
so there is more than one release of the DVD? there is no interview on the one i have (which only has the movie in either german or english with bad dubbing).

David's scene in the film is wrong. Cause in the film its a recreation of the LOW/HEROES tour. But in the book the concert is from the STATION TO STATION tour.

true, but i don't really think there's much need to be anal about a few minutes in the movie. it got the point across. after all, remember the main character peddles her arse before she goes so low as to sell her bowie records. still, somebody should've forcibly dyed his hair red again and put him back on the cocaine and milk diet to make it more authentic perhaps...

If we go down that road, most songs played in the movie are wrong, because they weren't even recorded in 1976. I've always seen it so that the movie version simply takes place later than the book.
Besides, David didn't have a red jacket like that in 1978, nor was his hair quite like that, so it isn't exactly a recreation of the 'Stage' tour either.

Yeah, but I think we should be anal about how Christiane put Changesonebowie on the turntable and managed to play "Heroes"...

Liked the book. Christiane F. is quite an identification figure for Germans my age. In fact I'd rather be surprised if your my age, German, and haven't read the book.
Never watched the movie. To be honest, I thought: if they don't stick to the Bowie concert, then the rest will also be disappointing. I mean, the Bowie concert is a climax point in the story, when Christiane realizes for the first time that "It's too late". It needed the STS atmosphere - not red jackets.
So what's the film like?

"Heroes" on "Changesonebowie" was actually the only mistake that caught my attention when I saw this movie for the first time in 1983. It was also the first time I saw footage of Bowie performing live, even if it was a "fake" concert. I thought this movie was special in that it only used previously released Bowie recordings in its soundtrack. I'd always thought "Low" and "Heroes" would make perfect movie scores and "Christiane F." uses Bowie music to great effect, both the songs in nightclub scenes and instrumentals as background music.
