I even know one fan who thinks NLMD is the only truly great album he's ever done.
Is his name Kenny by any chance?
The Kenny I know has pretty good taste in music so I've never fully worked out why he thinks so little of classic Bowie. Perhaps he is focused around the stadium rock sound more than me (he loves U2, Guns N Roses....which in turn I also love). But Kenny only really likes Never Let Me Down which I find very funny. I have never explained to him why that is funny....as I am just glad he likes some Bowie.

I think it's a good thing about the hospital shit...
He now is more eager to write something good (it really frustrated him, getting back to home and doing nothing) so the motivation of doing something is there more.
One way or another , that will effect his experimental motivation. Now at home he is already (oke... during tours he also is busy thinking of new stuff..but now more time) smoking his head out just to get a goodlooking twist.
With such a good band at this moment behind him, the next album will be good. But the will to do it more experimental is less i think due the time that is waisted.
We know bowie hops to this and that. Maybe i'm just talking bull (most of the time I do)

actually it would be kind of interesting if he did an an album using traditional instruments like he did on Baal but in an avant-garde way.
Things like Clarinets, oboes, flutes etc.
and maybe even odd acoustic precussions.

He could give us another "Heathen" with Brian Eno as producer.

Flute, piano, violins, vocals, possibly some acoustic bass and percussion... could turn out as the greatest album ever.

MUha....ha.
please, don't be so irrated when i talk about 'a good thing'. I meant it more like a positive thing in the whole negative situation.
Not like i now wish that he now has to break up with Iman to bring us some good music.

Uillean Pipes, Bouzouki, Fiddle, Whips, Valiha, Violin, Cello, Celtic Harp, Whistles, Mandolin, Balavescu String Quartet, Viola, Tupan, and The Trio Bulgarka helped make Kate Bush's The Sensual World one of the best albums of all time in my opinion.
