Everyone Says Hi - 5.00 (3) Slip Away - 5.00 (2) A Better Future - 5.00 (1) I Took a Trip On a Gemini Spacecraft - 5.00 (1) I've Been Waiting For You - 5.00 (1) Sunday - 5.00 (1) Cactus - 5.00 (1) 5.15 The Angels Have Gone - 4.80 (5) Heathen (The Rays) - 4.67 (3) Slow Burn - 4.50 (2) Afraid - 4.33 (3) I Would Be Your Slave - 4.00 (1)
With 7 songs getting a perfect 5, this album must be the greatest by any artist in history. It has 8 classics and no song under 4. Amazing that 7 songs from this album are rated as Bowie's best ever. I must sa......hang on a minute!

Bring Me The Disco King - 4.80 (5) Never Get Old - 4.50 (4) Fall Dog Bombs The Moon - 4.40 (5) New Killer Star - 4.12 (8) She'll Drive The Big Car - 3.71 (7) Looking For Water - 3.67 (6) Reality - 3.57 (7) Days - 3.25 (8) Pablo Picasso - 3.12 (8) The Lonliest Guy - 2.50 (4) Try Some, Buy Some - 2.17 (6)
We get a better idea of where the songs stand than Heathen, but still needs more voting. Try Some, Buy Some and The Lonliest Guy are surely not stinkers.
Thats it. I'll look up some singles, Labyrinth tracks etc and put them in maybe later.

If I'd included these in the top and bottom 10 Dancing In The Street would have made no 6 of the worst of all time, and Under Pressure would have made no 1 of the best of all time. My Death (live) would have made no 5 of the best of all time.

Nite Flights No 1 and the only classic. Surprising? It was to me.
Bowie considered the track as the lead-off single, but decided against it since this was his 'comeback album', and making a cover song the lead-up wouldn't have been the wisest course of action. It was (again) considered as the fourth single, but in the end replaced by The Buddha Of Suburbia single.
And it's a damn good track. Though adimmitedly not the best track on the album in my opinion.

Great work, great series of posts.
If anything, the rating accorded to individual songs broken down by album are even more illuminating than the ratings given to the album as a whole.
Some of the 80s ratings look a bit wacky to me though (Let's Dance, Loving The Alien, Modern Love or China Girl not classics, but Magic Dance is?).
Slan libh,
