A side note to the "burning tape" story is that all 4 Beatles did a session in LA during Lennon's "lost weekend". After listening to the tape all 4 agreed to burn the tape immediately and never speak of the session. Ringo referenced the session sometime after George died.

Rumour denied.

It would be extremely neat, but unfortunately (if I have understood correctly), EMI cannot use RCA labels because RCA is owned by BMG these days.

Of course, they could make labels that look like the old RCA labels, just with the letters EMI on them.

So RCA still exists as a record label? or do you mean BMG owns the rights to the logo?

I think it's high time they let the fans have some input into these releases, after all they are for us, It wouldn't take much thought from EMI to make the releases that little bit special, I have lots and lots of classical CDs and when they re-issue the old LPs from 40s onwards to CDs they make them resemble the old LPs in almost every way, Im well aware to EMI it's seen as just another re-issue and money making, but to us it's much much more, these are wonderful re-issues and should be made much better IMO.

RCA exists as an active record label. Several of Bowie's 90's UK singles were released on RCA label, even when the albums were released by BMG.

Thanks for that information Sys, I am fascinated to see who they still market recordings for.
