Ant there are professionally recorded (in various amounts and quality) of every tour since 1972. Plus filmed footage.
I'm thrilled to know that, yet saddened because I fear we may never get to hear/see these.
One day maybe.

I've often wondered why this material just gathers dust. For instance, the footage from the 74 tour which is on the Cracked actor documentary. I have to think this whole show was taped, why wasn't it released?? Same with the STS tour footage. It boggles the mind. On a different note,, I listened to David Live - DVD AUDIO on headphones yesterday. Absolutely sublime.

It angers me really, what is the point of this stuff existing! If we're never going to hear/see it?

Well the reason is that most of this stuff would be recorded for reference purposes only. For Bowie and the band to hear so that they can refine and change things. Obviously some of it was recorded with the intent of general release (Earls court 78, Berlin 02) but then subsequently shelved. However there is no reason that these tapes couldn't be considered as releasable material.

Excatly, he owns all his own copywrites, perhaps if he has given up recording? and that's a big if, maybe these might be released in the near future.

<<1976 footage>>
Has it ever been confirmed if this tour was professionally captured on video?
I know about the bootlegs and TV appearances.
I've never even read about some of the "jumbotron" footage that may exist from this tour. Several venues may have had it back then.

Apart from the Vancouver rehearsals there is some pro shot footage of the Paris concert, two songs were partially shown on French tv and both songs were from different parts of the concert. So there is a theory that the whole concert might have been shot. If they were just filming a part of it, it is logical to suggest that the footage would be from consecutive songs. Of course this is pure conjecture among some fans but it is a theory I hope is true.

no, sadly, I have not seen the rehersal footage, I just have bootlegs from that era, and not very much footage. and it's only tv appearence footage, no tour stuff or rehersals. I can't wait for the day I get my eyes on some though.
