Never been a fan of TM1

Love Time Will Crawl, Beat Of Your Drum and the majesty of the title track to NLMD.

The problem with TM1 is that it's not got anything worthwhile except Amazing, but that's patently on Side 2.

And my vote's put NLMD in the lead! Hurrah!

I kind of like ''Tin Machine'', but NLMD is the best 80's pop record David Bowie recorded (''Scary Monsters'' and ''The Baal'' ep are something different, a universe). Not every tracks is superb but you can't say that about ''Let's Dance'' or ''Tonight'' either. The overal flow is nice

Both these albums were omnipresent on my hifi in 1987 and 1989 respectively and I still like both. I did however vote for NLMD as I feel it is much maligned in Bowie circles, including by the man himself.

Day in Day out is the weakest song on side one of NLMD but the rest of the side is really good, and includes my favourite NLMD song Zeroes.

Then I heard & saw the video of Day In, Day Out before the albums release, bought the album regardless, aired it many times and inevitably came to the conclusion that it was a heap of shite.

Ok, but how long did it take you to come to this conclusion? I mean you might have liked NLMD when it was released, possible?

A question please Strawie, would you recommend me hearing Tin Machine as Alan longs me to? considering you were a fan in 70s.

This is like trying to decide which is worse, the long-winded fanciful crap that White Prism posts in the Coffee Shop or the fanciful long-winded crap that Adam posts in Interpretation.

I really can't decide.

No, I can't do it.

Impossible.

Edit: OK, I've thought about it some more, and White Prism just shades it.

He'll have you wrestling midgets in border towns for ten percent of the net.

Tin Machine by a landslide. I actually like TM1 a lot--pissed off Bowie is fun.

As for NLMD, I dislike most of it. So, it's not going to win in too many comparisons.

In reply to:

Trying to remember the songs on NLMD I realise how much I liked them when I went through my NLMD phase. I think HIH is a weaker opener than even DI/DO ... and there is nothing as baffling as Zeroes or TWC on Tin Machine.

Indeed. And furthermore NLMD felt like a drastic improvement back then after the super-shitty "Tonight" album. My hopes weren't high then but NLMD felt better than I had feared. For Tin Machine instead I had really high hopes after what was to be heard about the style and the musicians before the album came out - and it all ended in disappointment.

Maybe I had expected too much but in the end I had quite some moments of joy with NLMD, joy which Tin Machine scarcely provided.

And I want to believe that a light's shining through somehow
