Just Another Peice of Americana

Bowie has always had a fascination with all things Amercian. What track of his do you think ooze with Americana?
She'll Drive the Big Car is a good example as is Lady Grinning Soul. co-incidentally mentions driving a big car. Americans love their guzzlers I guess.

I've always thought Five Years - and Ziggy Stardust in general - is quite conspicuously Americanised, especially as it follows the quirky Englishness of Hunky Dory. Words he uses like news-guy, cadillac, cop and ice-cream parlour seem to be quite deliberately American.
Young Americans is pretty American too I guess.
Temperature's rising, but any idiot would know that...

well yeah it is but not entirely. Americana refers more to Diners, Cadillacs, Baseball etc...
the most Americana track on there besides the title rtrack would have to be Somebody Up There Likes Me. Sums up the whole glamour of elections in the states.

The whole Never Let Me Down makes me think of America
Time Will Crawl has got a very 80's America vibe to it. I hate it like I hate 1kg hail stones.

Time Will Crawl is a great song. Actually when I hear it I can imagine Neil Young singing it.

Funny, I like that song, but I think Bowie was trying to sound like Michael Jackson.
