They are much cheaper here: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp
Just a little over $20, which is around GBP10,50. Even including shipping that is a lot cheaper.

Japanese albums are always outrageously priced, especially when they come in special replica cardboard sleeves. I don't imagine that record shops outside Japan will be stocking too many of them as they've been discounting the various reissues of DB albums in recent years to ridiculous lows, so they can't think that they're going to shift all that many of them.
But keep an eye out for the sales. A couple of years back the big HMV in the centre of Sydney had all of the cardboard replica sleeve CD reissues of XTC's albums in stock and reduced the price to reasonable levels in a sale and I was able to snap up the special, (round - like the original LP) version of The Big Express for just under ten bucks (four quid). Bargain!

Good things about these issues:
1) B & W STS cover available again 2) Correct texture of the sleeves .. check TMWSTW, even the sticker on the back of Low!

They are AU$27.99, which is the equivalent of £11.20 in JB Hi-Fi in Australia. Still too bloody expensive if you ask me.

I had a gift card- so I bought Diamond Dogs today- won't open it till tonight. On sale for 18 bucks. Is the sound any better- or are people only buying them for the covers? The only other ones I might get- if I hear there's an improved sound- would be Low or Heroes if that's the case. They are retailing here for 23.99 apiece. That's a lot of money for an album cover.

I picked up 4 of these bad-boys as my monthly raid on the EMI catalog. I'm actually surprised I was able to get them, most of the good stuff (i.e. Beatles and N.W.A.) is off limits.
And yes, I would scorn Dogz for buying them, but for free they make nice little collectables. The only jones being that Ziggy and Scary Monsters are already gone.
They let the retard in the game and he went wild.

Are they like the (I assume) Russian vinyl replicas (probably unofficial, but beautifully done) where the CD is like a replica of the label from the vinyl? I got an (unofficial) Ziggy off eBay for $10(AU) and it was exactly like the original vinyl, except for an additional inner slip with a photo on one side and the details of the remaster per 1999 on the side. Basically it the whole package looked like this (including the RCA logos!) which is why I'm assuming it's unofficial: http://www.algonet.se/~bassman/album/zs.html
I think there was a "Heroes" floating around as well. I missed out on that one though.

The unofficial Russian mini-lp's of Ziggy, Heroes and Let's Dance are very nicely done as well - they have the original label on the face of the cd which is a nice touch. They aren't as high quality as the Japanese ones though.
