Less Than 18 Months Left of This Decade new

and that would make it Bowie's less Productive decade. Probably more so than the 60's.

Unless he squeezes out one more album before then.

When Reality followed Heathen in rapid succession, it got us hoping for a return to a more 70s styled productivity.

This September marks the exact 5 year point without an album. Come January, Bowie will have succeeded in doubling his longest wait between albums. Here's a very worrying sight.....

As for the 1960s, they weren't too shabby at all. Although 1968 appeared without an album, I have counted upwards of 40 outtakes written between his two 60s albums. And that's just what we know.

Does no one include his 6 songs for the Labyrinth soundtrack that he wrote? 1986.

You know -- You people are the most ungrateful bunch of misfits. This man has contributed what know one else has and will ever do. He suffered a life threatening heart episode while he was still giving of himself. If any of you were to suffer the same thing you would immediately stop and say fuck the world and concentrate on what's really important.
The man, Mr. Bowie, has done enough for me. Yes, I wait for anything Bowie. But if he does nothing else, he has done enough for me. I 'm thankful that he has the option to stop and enjoy life the way he wants.

Come to think of it, he did say something about not wanting to be a rock star in his sixties. The last album cover was a cartoon of himself. His career was largely based on image and glamour. I think Mr. Bowie is a thespian and quite a great one.

Bowie's Journal entry,September 26 2006: "Iman wore Angel Sanchez. I wore Hedi Slimane. Cool."

What's important may be the simplest of things regarding himself and family. It's propably not going to involve a new Bowie album and tour. I would call that hard work. There is a such thing as retirement. I know I want my working days to end now and I'm not 61 and my job is not hard.

It's not we're saying he has to do something. It's just pointing out a fact. Yes you are quite right, it's good that he's spending time with his family. After what he's been through it would be the human choice.

I don't think it's ungrateful to expect new music from your favourite singer. I think if he had said officially that he has retired and he won't be making albums anymore, then we would all probably laugh... err..no, we would all probably accept it and take pleasure in listening to what we have. But because he hasn't said anything, we keep holding on.
Having said that though.... I don't recall any celebrity officially saying they're retiring, so I'm just talking shit really.

Even if is just a half-an-album contribution, he worked on a concept and thanks to that effort I discovered him in my early days, so I'd count it.

There is no Hell like an old Hell....
