Iggy Pop Collaboration new [re: ]

An interview with Iggy today:

Larry Ryan:
You reunited with the founding members of the Stooges when recording Skull Ring, do you think you will ever reunite with David Bowie to make any new music?

Iggy Pop:
You never know. The way etiquette in the rock world works is that the larger giant approaches the smaller giant so that would be entirely out of my curfew.

I think Iggy might have said "purview" rather than "curfew".

Here’s hoping that David still has Iggy's phone number.

Great to hear him say that. "You never know" is more promising than "No".

Maybe they could team up in a similar sense to David Byrne and Brian Eno. These artists have an equal billing on the album and usually share duties such as songwriting, producing, performing/singing and maybe some duets.

Bowie's never shared his name on record before, I don't think he's going to start now. I think the most likely would be an Iggy project. Something in the vein of 'Avenue B' could really work well.

I think it's about as likely as McCain being assassinated before Obama personally, but, I would cream my pants if it eventuated.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

Who's this Bruno K. fellow, eraserhead? I like that video. Scenes from Metropolis, explosions, and Art Garfunkel's creepy Swedish twin droning over Lynchian atmospheric pop. It's as if he's specifically trying to seduce me.

Re: Iggy Pop Collaboration new [re: JarethsGirl]

Bruno K. is a Swedish poet, born in 1951. I have directed and produced the video, which is based on a performance of a Bruno K. poem. I also made the music. It's an unofficial music video. And, yes, I used footage from old films (like Metropolis and Nosferatu) for the video. Bruno K. is Sweden's most famous poet, his books sell a lot of copies. I have created the website www.brunok.se. A month ago, Bruno K. Öijer (which is his full name) sent me his latest book, his signature, and a nice message: "To Per Erik [which is my real name]. This world is evil - keep up the good work". So I guess the website is almost semi-official now.

Anyway, I know this is off-topic, but since I have been away for so very long, I think that I am allowed to do this; I am forgiven, because I have been missed.

By the way, JarethsGirl, didn't you too record music? Do you still make songs? I really liked your hip hop tunes.

Back to the topic: Question for Adam (for everybody): Who has painted the painting that Iggy is holding?

You made that vid? I'm impressed! Seeing as you appear to have been up to something interesting and worthwhile, your extended absence from T-dubs is forthwith pardoned.

I'm intrigued, now. But, it doesn't appear as if much of Bruno K.'s work has been translated into English. (Even though reading translated poetry sort of makes me cringe inside.) The only thing I see is an ASF award winning translation of The Fog of Everything and it doesn't appear to have been published.

Anywho, as for my hip hop history - I'm surprised anyone even listened to those songs - and I haven't recorded anything along those lines in a while. I still make beats, but due to lack of microphone and (legal) software I don't have a lot of options atm. I have, however, been teaching myself guitar for a couple months, so if I make any uber lo-fi recordings on my mp3 player of clumsy acoustic covers I will post them in the Artiste's forum with a formal pre-apology.

P.S. Good to see you round these parts again! And by these parts, I mean my genitals. And by my genitals, I mean an online cyberpunk epic to be read in complete darkness with a tawny cat on your lap.

If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
