Why doesn't Bowie want to open his vault?

I would have thought that he would like to see just how much of a musical and societal impact that he has gifted us with. Davids impact has been seismic, and most of the fruits of his labour are locked in a vault somewhere. Why do you think that he doesn't want to share? why wait until he's dead and the market will be flooded with amazing stuff that new generations of fans will benefit from and he wont be around to witness it...
All I want is some truth...

After 50 years, they finally released that new Jimi Hendrix album. The 'new' content sounds amazingly good to me, and I wonder why it took so long for them to release it.

Thanks for reminding me tony, I should check out the Hendrix album after my love affair with the Next Day has cooled off a bit. Also the Valleys of Neptune was released some 3 years ago - I really liked that song!
More on topic - taste is a subjective thing so just because Daddy won't release some songs doesn't mean that some fans wouldn't have liked them.

I'm sure we'll hear it all once he's no longer with us. His family and record company will release an album of "new" material every so often, much the same way many other great artists legacies are dealt with once they're gone. Maybe some of the musicians he worked with will come back and finish things off. Either way, hopefully it won't be for a very very very very very very (insert many more verys here) long time. He's not exactly an old man just yet.

Finally got around to listening to that Hendrix album. Indeed, it's amazing that such a pile of songs of consistent quality was still lying around in his vaults. What if Bowie has just as much good-quality unreleased material...
