I am curious about the Omikron stuff, as I've never heard it. That might be fun.

In my experience, Seven (which is not included, but it's similar to the demo) is superior to the Hours version, while New Angels Of Promise (actually called Omikron as the Omikron version) is far inferior.

And that's really all I know of those.

Re: 2 CD Limited Editions of Outside, Earthling, Hours new [re: zigbot]

I wonder how these releases affect the rumoured September/late fall issue of Dublin 2003 DVD/CD and Stage/David Live.

Oddly, I have kept the remix cds bowie has put out during the 90's. I find them absolutely hypnotic to listen to while doing work at a desk or something. Though, I would only listen to each disc about once every 2 years. It's the same with the NIN remix discs of the early 90's.

What's interesting about these releases is that there's room for another release down the road with some of the missing tracks and remixes. It's until then that Bowie may try opening up the vaults for the unheard studio material.

I'd also say that the bonus discs here may be better than the three 30th bonus disc sets. Think about it. he also bolsters the sales of these later career titles. Maybe he wants to add his post 1990 catalogue to the next edition of the Bowie Bonds.

Re: 2 CD Limited Editions of Outside, Earthling, Hours new [re: Adam]

Very nice indeed! Once they released the skimpy reissues of these three albums, I had writen off the possibility of getting more bonus tracks out of them. It will be nice to have all these remixes and b-sides on actual albums instead of mp3's gleaned from the net over the last few years. Sure, it would have been nice to get some really unreleased material, like, oh, some of 2. Contamination, but you'll hear no complaints from me.

Does anyone know the sales of the recent single/1.5 disc releases? I wonder if these were greenlighted due to higher than imagined revenue from those packages, or if they had this second wave of reissues planned all along. I hope it's the former, as the latter would confirm what Bowie fans have been saying for years about him taking advantage of his audience with frequent and unfabulous reissues.

Christ! I hate the album track. I can't wait to hate the Omikron version even more. Woohoo!

Imagine the idiots (me included) who bought all the CD singles, 7" and 12" singles from this period.

They will become worthless wiht these re-issues but great news.

I picked up the Hallo Spaceboy 12" promo a few years back for a fair sum and it's great that they will now be on CD for the first time :)

This is a brilliant selection for newer fans like me who didn't buy all the singles in the 90s. I wish their was more mixes of I'm Afraid of Americans included though. I detest the Moby mix of Dead Man Walking... it's only from 1997 and it already sounds as dated as the Black Tie White Noise remixes.

And the silver box is a bit cheap looking on the picture. It could be worse though. It could be bright orange and say "BOWIE 90" on the front.

Re: 2 CD Limited Editions of Outside, Earthling, Hours new [re: Max_M]

I'm very excited about this too. I resolutely refuse to download Bowie tracks, and don't buy vinyl, so there's quite a wealth of stuff I don't own. I missed the Outside and Earthling singles first time round and have only recently started purchasing them over the internet (getting my hands on Nothing To Be Desired recently).

I was very impressed with the Black Tie White Noise bonus disc and just hope that they do shuffle the track listings. It's early days so they may still do this. I'd love to have them in that swishy box too. 90's rules!!

Its about time I had a signature

Software takes Hours new [re: Nature_Boy]

It is impressive, a must.
Though I think they could have chucked a DVD format of the Omikrom game as well with Hours. Just to complete the era. But hey! that would be just an after thought. Maybe it would come down to licensing issues as they could have chucked on Jump with BTWN.

Re: Software takes Hours new [re: sonofsilence]

I think there might have been some coding issues too, as both are quite old programs now, I doubt very much Jump would work with windows 98/2000/xp and I doubt Omirikon would would with xp.

Unless someone out there knows different of course.............

Believe everything I say, especially the lies.

I doubt they would affect David Live and Stage, as they're released by EMI while these are by Sony/Columbia... on the other hand, they're EMI, they might very will think they're overcrowding the market and decide to scrap the re-releases .

I'd also find it probable that Dublin '03, David Live and Stage are not released in the same time. I'd presume there'a bit of second-guessing going on between EMI and Columbia: neither wants to release a live Bowie album in the same time as the other, but they need to have them out at some point or they'll lose the revenue. I'd actually say Dublin is more important, because it would benifit from release while the Reality tour is still fresh in people's memory.

And, although I wouldn't want it to be so, it's entirely possible we won't see the Stage reissue until 2008, so that they can call it a 30th anniversary.
