Actually, if you look at the cover pictures, the one for David Live is a square, which would mean the album will be housed in a normal jewel case,

Yes Sys I understand your reasoning but I see no reason why it should be jewled-cased? I will wager a sportsman bet thet both albums will be digipaks, as for the square-ness of David Live? well that could be down to it made for a DVD-Audio case and not the regular CD issue.

Digipaks you wait and see?

Less epensive and enviromental friendly.

Re: UPDATE! new [re: diamondogz74]

I'm not saying they would be nescessarily like that, those were simply observations concerning the pictures. I too think digipacks are the most likely packages for them (at least for the initial editions. They might get jewel cases later on, a la Ziggy TMP).

They are proper digipacks (with trays) there are scans put up by 96dbfreak which Curfew scanned from a pre release copy of both on BWW.

Still not the full show for Stage. But yeah, I'm not complaining (although I apparently do that a lot).

Yeah it is a shame that they couldn't have included Rebel rebel and The Jean genie. Also if you look at the booklet for David Live, the booklet and back cover have Watch that man on different discs.

Yeah it's a great pity as Alan points out, but these really are as my friend Alan once said The Bee's Knees

Re: UPDATES and Niggles&odd reviews new [re: pablopicasso]

Some news of the much anticipated release of David Live and Stage I was reading a review from amazon this morning that states this...

The new edition restores the original running order and tacks on the tracks "Space Oddity" and "Panic in Detroit". Also featured are unusual renditions of familiar tracks such as "The Jean Genie", "Rock'n'Roll Suicide" and "All the Young Dudes".

So whats unusual about those unusual tracks?

Then this awful description...

For many, their choice of favourite David Bowie album is an easy one. Ziggy? Hunky Dory? Let's Dance? For me, though, this 1974 over-the-top, drug-crazed extravaganza is the one. Unfortunately for me, I'm the only Bowie fan I know who can make this claim. Sure, the playing in parts is patchy, the production not always up to the mark, and the set list unfamiliar to many. But the atmosphere of the show permeates everything and Bowie's vocals are superbly dramatic as he wrings every drop of emotion from the performance

Then to top that this...

If you enjoy Bowie-lite, go somewhere else. However, if you prefer your Bowie full-on, this is the CD that repays repeated plays

Bowie-lite duz it come in a can.

Now for niggles at Bowienet concering the posting of images regarding the two new re-issues, we have this...

Ahead of the 5.1 listening party at Abbey Road and despite a spoiler being posted by a BowieNetter on a Bowie fansite's MBs, I thought I'd give a little tease of what's to come to those of you that don't want the complete contents of the forthcoming new versions of David Live and Stage revealed in their entirety just yet.

It seems from a post from an antipodean BowieNetter on our own MBs that some territories have jumped the gun and are already selling the releases. We expect that kind of behaviour in Holland and even Ireland, but Australia!? };-) Oh well, spilt milk.

Perhaps if Bowienet had got their messages out earlier! this would not be the case

Re: UPDATES and Niggles&odd reviews new [re: diamondogz74]

"The band intro may be tacked onto the end of whatever song it followed, rather than given it's own track no. this time."

I've always thought the "Band Intro" track had been edited from different parts of the show, so I guess now we'll hear the introduction to each musician at the proper time. Also, I wonder whether the end of "Time" (no pun intended) will have David announcing a break, like in the bonus track of the Ryko reissue. The original "David Live" did not include "Time" but it did include the last piano notes of the song (even if we didn't know it).

"I imagine the 'Be My Wife' recording will be the same as that on RarestOne? Although it does say previously unreleased..."

David has never acknowledged the Trident/Griffin releases as official. When the studio version of "All The Young Dudes" was included in "The Best of David Bowie", it was announced as "previously unreleased".

"Has it ever been 100% confirmed that HT/GT was ever played before a paying audience? Bowie himself says he has "virtually" every soundboard tape from the 74 tour."

It has been 100% confirmed that the song was NOT performed, both by fans who were there and Tony Visconti in his FAQ! But it was a clever idea to place it next to "Knock on Wood". I, too, wonder whether the writing credits will be corrected.

"Of course there is the slight moral delemma as to whether these still constitute the albums David Live and Stage. I mean they're like Version 2 really."

Agreed. Even if the concerts are the same, once a live album is released, that edit becomes history. The same goes for movies (I, for one, have both versions of "The Exorcist" on DVD because the edited version was the one that made history and also to compare them). As a collector, I'm glad I bought the original editions. I'm sure a lot of fans will still want them. And I'm also glad I have the original edited version of "Ziggy Stardust, the Motion Picture" on a single CD.

"I wonder if we will get the full intro to Five years with the band intro or if we will just get the version issued previously on Stage where the last few seconds of the drum intro is faded in?"

My guess is that we will get the full intro, otherwise there is little sense in restoring the original running order.

Same here it duz not sound right on the Ryko edition.

Don't know about that one since I do not own RarestOne Im sure someone will enlighten us please.

I too have both versions of the Exorcist, the added footage makes a lot of sense especially when she is having the brain scan done, although Im not much of a fan of the so-called Spider Walk but it is interesting to see.

Thats my guess and my hope.
