Time to go shopping:-) new [re: Tristan]

In reply to:

Convince me to get out of my pajamas and go buy Live & Stage today. You see, on my day off I rarely get out of my pajamas. Would I break the seal and play them? I haven't broken the seal on the last 5 I bought. I think I'll relax today.

Tristan you are being such a wicked tease Aww! come on get out of your PJs just for a while and go buy these today I implore you pretty please, whats the time where you are now? about 11.20 yes? Im sure there is a shop close by where you can buy these.

It won't take you long and besides I really want to hear your thoughts on the albums in particular David Live I tell you Tristan you will not regret slipping out of your PJs for a little while now will you?

This is a virtual boot up the ass

Now you just have to persuade him to break the seals...

fixxlevy, Fulghum, Sydney, The Piper, Wing'd Icarus are my idols.

I'm still in my pajamas.... new [re: pablopicasso]

But looking at the song listing on the Best Buy web site, why is "The Width Of A Circle" and "The Jean Genie" listed as bonus tracks? Both of those songs are on the RYKO CD.

I would say that is a mistake on that site, they are not listed as bonus tracks on the actual releases. You will be blown away at the difference in Stage (less so with Live).

Wipe that smile off your face, I went shopping. new [re: diamondogz74]

I haven't seen the sun shine in 5 days. It's been wet and cold. Today the sun is out. 62 degrees.
I'm always late for work on Friday morning. Why? I stop for cigs. I won't be late tomorrow. Yes, Ant, I got dressed and went shopping. I have cigs for tomorrow and 2 Live Bowie CD's. I'll put them next to the other 5 I haven't opened.

CC? No.

How's about leaving the cigs sealed and opening the CDs?

I felt the need to give a review new [re: diamondogz74]

Well, I bought the 2 live sets on March 15- the day they FINALLY became available in the USA. I bought them each for $15.99 which I thought was a great buy. I have played David Live in its entirety 3 times. Sorry DD- I haven't got time to play these sets as much as you unfortunately. I think its a mixed bag that will take some getting used to for me. The guitar is mixed further back as are the backing vocals on most of the songs. I rather like the echo effect on Sweet Thing, but I miss the blaring guitar on Moonage Daydream. There are sounds on the original David Live which have disappeared on the new version though. For instance, on Sweet Thing before the second solo there was a thudding sound before that blaring high pitched note on the original live album. The sound is a vast improvement to me from Suffragette City on to the end though. His vocals are much clearer on the mix.I liked the booklet, but I would love to know what he was doing for choreography on each individual piece. This tour has always fascinated me. It is an album which is such a part of my life that I can't vote against it in a poll. HOWEVER:

Stage is stunning. Disc 1 especially is an essential part of any fans collection. I can't believe how much the spaces between songs on the original Stage detracted from the listening experience. Be My Wife and Stay- the bonus tracks are great and finally hearing this whole concert in its correct order is a huge improvement. I can't say enough how much more I enjoyed hearing Stage over the original album.
I wish I could have seen both of these shows. They are excellent live albums of tours which are screaming for DVD's or tour books.

Well I walk around listening too them as well as in my main player, as for the mixed bag? I do know what you are saying, we get used to hearing an album one way for so many years and then this new remastered\remixed version comes out, It's only a matter of time before you eventally forget the old David Live and thrive for the new version, like other members have said I shall never play the old versions again and yes the echo you mention is a tad overdone on some tracks to hi-lite the stereo effect IMO.

Stage is a brilliant remix for sure.

Books about both these tours are long overdue, fine they say there's not much video footage ( I say liars to that ) but there must be tonnes of still photos and reports of the tours to make quite bulky books out of.

Re: I felt the need to give a review new [re: diamondogz74]

I'm debating if I should break the seal and listen to this new remastered David Live. I have the RYKO, and as I've posted in the past, I prefer the Wealth & Authority boot. Convince me, someone. On the otherhand, I possibly might break the seal on Stage this afternoon, if I can get in a Bowie listening mood.
