Re: UPDATE!!! new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

In reply to:

Because this collection is a budget release they have probably only made one edition of it, hence the CC. At least that is what I am hoping.

That's what Im hoping too, I tell you Alan if YA 30th has that horribly ugly CC logo on the front cover it's a crime against art, I am so angry over this whole CC lark, they show NO respect for the original artwork whatsoever, It will not stop me buying YA 30th of course, but it will put a damper on it for me and other's too Im sure.

In reply to:

You can't believe how happy I am it's only after they released Live and Stage!

Oh im sure I can Kati the placing of the CC logo on David Live and Stage is an abomination.

Well, as I've said before... I don't really care where the logo is... But I don't really want to get into that discussion again.

Prepare your ears for a shock then Trendy the audio for this track can be found on Bowieaudio, how can you condense a track that runs for almost 10 mins down to about 3 mins 30 secs?

Well I've been over to Bowie audio, but can't find the song there. All I get when I try the link is some taxation information!.

I can't even work out where on Bowie's site the streaming audio section is, so I still haven't had a chance to hear the Station to station edit.

How odd? are you a member of Bowieaudio Trendy? ( If that's a daft question? forgive me ) only I know it can be rather confusing because the passwords are changed now and then for the streaming audio section, although it duz state now that you can access these facilities without being a member and it's currently not accepting new members.

I've just been there and heard the French edit for STS so it duz exist, Im not sure what you can do? perhaps soem kind TW can put the m-peg file on here for you.

Thanks for that, I was looking in the forum section of Bowie audio. I found the right section now and the edit sucks.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have a shorter version to stick on compilation albums (other than the live Stage version).

It's too late new [re: trendy rechauffe]

I don't understand what makes the edit so bad. Personally I quite like it. You can't edit an epic 10-minute-plus piece like that into a single and presume to maintain everything that's great about it (the single edit of Autobahn nonwithstanding). The Station To Station edit doesn't even try to do it, which I think is for the better. It takes up one part and allows it to be a stand-alone piece. In my opinion it works surprisingly well.

And if it is true that Station To Station started out as two separate songs, then the edit is also a good way of finding out how it might have originally sounded.

Im pleased you have at long last heard this dreadful version.

I understand your reasonings Trendy but I just don't think it would ever work, the song is a whole masterpiece and to edit it down by any amount of time would IMO be a crime.

I've never heard of this before, where did you find this news please Sys?

To be perfectly honest, I haven't got a clue where I read the info. It might have been Strange Fascination, Loving The Alien, An Illusitrated Record or The Complete DB, or something I've read in the net. Hence the wording 'if it is true'.

Re: UPDATE!!! new [re: Sysiyo]

I think it is probably the case, the two sections are so totally different that it certainly sounds like they were initially written as two songs and then in a moment of pure genius he decided to create a magnum opus.

I quite like the french edit as a bit of a curio. Might have made an interesting single, with maybe part one on the other side as a double a side.

I haven't got a signature at the moment.

He sure did and probably one of the most perfect songs ever written by anyone, actually I find the whole structure of the song to be like a symphonic moment, so your choice of words are perfect

I'll definately go along with that thought, only where would you divide the song?
