My first thought was "My God, they're making people who bought Best of 69/74 and Best of 74/79 and now want Best of 80/87 buy the first two again!".

It's time like these I give praise to the Dark Lady that I never quite caught the "completist" bug.

Nevertheless Dara, this is no different to the 3cd Queen greatest hits set, all THREE discs of which were already released separately. It is a shame the third disc doesn't follow the format of the first two though (no album tracks or curios, apart from the Drowned girl). I believe the Queen set sold quite well, so this should too. There has been quite a few of these 3cd sets released over the last few year including a good one by Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music.

Yeah, but at least there you didn't have to buy the triple set if you already had all three. I've no problem batching previously-released stuff up into one collection. They did that with the Berlin albums and Stage, if I remember correctly.

This is more like releasing a new album as part of a boxset with Heathen and Reality.

I'm not so sure. It seems to me they've virtually milked the Hits compilations market dry as far as Bowie is concerned. It's not just the two previously released Best ofs, this has a lot of overlap with Singles Collection, ChangesBowie, the assorted versions of Best Of Bowie and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

This time Im letting my completist bug lie dormant, there is nothing on that 3rd disc which impresses me to want to buy it, I see it as purely a money grabbing release.

Precisely Alan, It is a big disappointment in my opinon

I've just checked and NO I do not have that track I was certain I had it as a bonus track on Tonight but didn't, I would buy it if it was a single disc, but Im not buying the other two ( which are far superior ) with their curios as you mentioned, best thing for me to do is to buy the CD single of "When The Wind Blows" off ebay, any thoughts on the forthcoming artwork?

There is no cd single of WTWB, the only option is to find a copy of the original soundtrack album or the reissue of NLMD.

Bloody great track anyway. new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

The best version if the original 7" single though, as it gives you the fabulous instrumental version, which isn't available anywhere else. Of course, it will do you little good if you don't have an LP player.

Incidentally, I have a copy of both the soundtrack album and the 7" single and the sound on the former is oddly muted. So I can't really recommend the soundtrack if you can get it somewhere else.
