Grudgingly new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

Now, I don't like Oasis much these days, at all. But one of their best songs, IMO, The Masterplan, was only ever given a single release as a B-Side. B-Side to what, I've completely forgotten but a B-Side it was and one of the best, if not the best B-Side of the nineties.

It was one of the b sides to Wonderwall, I haven't like much since Be Here Now.

Re: Grudgingly new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

I haven't liked anything since and including BHN - and that's despite every new album being trumpeted as their "Long awaited return to form . . .blah" which it inevitably isn't.

New Oasis albums seem to run to a particular timetable these days -

1. They start sessions with at least vaguely interesting producers/collaboraters - in the most recent case, Death in Vegas.
2. They scrap sessions with vaguely interesting produscers and go back into the studio with a hack who'll do what Noel tells him.
3. They release another album that sounds like the last one, talking it up all the while as a "long awaited return to form. . . blah." Which it isn't.

It's been so long since Oasis did anything I remotely cared about that I really just wish they'd do the decent thing and quit. Cause DM and WTS(MG) were part of the soundtrack to some pretty good years for me and all this crap since . . . Little by Little, for example, was only this far away from being a Scorpions or a Foreigner song or some shit like that. . . the world needs gobby, arrogant, rock'n'roll bands who talk a good fight and throw a few punches. But, these days, that's probably Razorlight or, with a bit of help, Kasabian. Not Oasis.

In reply to:

I think Bowie sees the lost revenue from that.. notice the way he has reclaimed Labyrinth OST as a bonefide Bowie Lp. To A point.

I still keep meaning to buy this album but still havn't got round to it yet much to my shame I suppose? I love the Bowie tracks of course but the rest of the music really isn't me.

Yes surprizingly this album does seem to have been reclaimed as a bona fide LP considering it's only a film soundtrack album and not that good IMO, but if it brings in revenue for Bowie as was your point I think? then so be it.

Labyism new [re: diamondogz74]

More to the point, half of it has been written by Trevor Jones without any participation from Bowie.

Still, it would be nice to get a re-release of the album next year (it's 20th Anniversary), with a bonus disc featuring:

1. Underground (single edit)
2. As The World Falls Down (video edit)
3. Magic Dance (the mix that appears in the movie)
4. Underground (extended dance mix)
5. Underground (dub mix)
6. Magic Dance (a dance mix)
7. Magic Dance (dub mix)
8. Magic Dance (Danny S Magic Dust Dub, available on promo-only)
9. Underground (instrumental)

Admittedly, it would so not sell. But the album is extremely hard to find, so a reissue would be nice. Maybe a midprice 1-disc edition with bonus tracks?

Re: Labyism new [re: diamondogz74]

You would buy anything, as long as it says Bowie on the cover.

And actually, I do own Labyrinth on LP, and I've got the Bowie-performed tracks on CD somewhere as well. But I've seen the album on sale in a normal record store on CD only once.

LOL! well not quite Sys, even I have standards

Here's an admission for you! I do not own any Tin Machine albums or singles and that my dear Sys is the honest truth.

MInd you I think it's time I seriously considered buying some, I wasn't a huge fan of that part of Bowie's output, but Im growing to like it more.

Really, every true fan must have a copy of Tin Machine 2. TM1 isn't so important, because it's so easy to find, but TM2 is a status symbol.
