Damn those snippets!

I think they act as spoilers in the real sense of the word.

Re: (she can) do that new [re: SoulLoveChild]

Yeah, the vocals on that last 10 seconds are very reminiscent of his 78-80 vocals and that ain't a bad thing.

Yup, my first impression is that vocals sound like
the 70s Bowie - in fact not so much end of of 70s, but
more Ziggy Stardust/Hunky Dory like. In fact reminds me
of Queen Bitch, Holy Holy, Hang Onto Yourself (which have also some rather ...ehm... funny lyrics).

If the next album sounds like this, great.
If this will be a hit, fantastic.

And I bet those who are here so embarassed about the song
would have missed out on Ziggy in the 70s because he looked so silly in his women's clothes...

P.S. Reminds me that I still have to come up with my Essay on Bowie & Nietzsche's Zarthustra. David is constanly hinting at this. He's turning a child again. Nothing wrong with that. If he becomes a starchild (2001 A Space Odyssey) then even better.

Indeed, the clip is too short to really tell. But it doesn't sound very promising.

Yeah they do really I agree, It was the same with the Reality snippets, I really didn't want to hear them, I heard about two then decided to wait for the album proper.

Can't really tell much from this 30 sec clip, but at least it's new material.

Re: (she can) do that new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

Goddamn sickening shit. All these "oh let him try new things" people are totally missing the point -- this isn't new, this sounds like something you'd hear in the waiting room at the dentist in the early 90's. Which is to say, Tin Machine.

The Real Cool World comparison is the only thing that gives me any hope -- my first impression of RCW was equally horrified, but given time I've grown to love that track. So I'll hold off passing any final judgment until I've heard the full track a few times -- but as far as thirty-second snippets are concerned, this one leaves me feeling ill.

As for Blammo's description of 'Labyrinth crossed with Talking Heads' - I guess he's referring to the chorus and the verse respectively (although the end part sounds more like Devo). Anyway, I like this a lot....surprise! surprise!

The end of this bad clip sounds almost identical to part of a Hawkwind song similarly entitled....."(You Shouldn't) Do That"....hmm!

I'll make you a deal - just like any other candidate

I am also curious about that. According to this page, production and recording artist credit go to them entirely but there is some very distinctive lead guitar.

Bowie said:

"BT wanted me to write the lyrics and top line melody for a backing track that he had written and produced for the forthcoming Jamie Fox movie 'Stealth'. I wrote my part in New York and recorded it at Looking Glass. I then sent the Pro-Tools parts back to BT in LA and he did the mix there."

So Bowie has been at the same studios as Reality and (part of) Heathen but looks like no Visconti and most likely, his other usual band members were absent as well.

And Earthling.

Am I totally mistaken in thinking the place is actually owned by the one and only Philip Glass?
