Re: Brick House new [re: Marquis]

God dammit Marquis! You didn't like his last 3 albums yet you continue to plague this site making non-bowie related posts. What's wrong with you!?!?

I know. You're a music snob who can't accept that a 58 year old living legend might not have much more challenging material left in the tank so you're slowly turning into a Bowie basher. Jesus!! It's not enough that I have to encounter these types in my day to day but now their lurking on the very site which I thought was about celebrating our favorite artist not tearing him down upon the first hearing of a 30 SECOND SNIPPET. If you don't like the direction Bowie has been going in then for god's sake listen to something else. It seems you have more than enough music selections in your "Life Story" to pull from. But don't ruin it for the rest of us who are content to have something new to enjoy for "what it is" not for "what it should be"

Alright, I think I see what you're getting at...but let me make sure: to be here you've got to like everything he's ever done? Or just what he's doing currently?

Uh, I don't follow. Or else you worded that wrong. I can definitely accept that Bowie's creative tank is empty. I've been accepting it for years. I know that it's not going to be a popular opinion around here, but it's how I feel.

Wait, so you meet people who hate Bowie in real life? How does it come up so much? Do you like force it into conversation or something?

Also, good to remember: TW is about tearing down, not building up, whether it be the boundaries of good taste or the confidence of a defenseless teenager.

I do, but thanks for the suggestion.

Did you read my Life Story? Was it any good? How'd it end? Wait! Wait, wait, wait, don't tell me....no, ok, tell me! No! No! I can't spoil it. Well, maybe a hint.

I am sorry that my pat dismissal of this future classic has totally ruined it for you. Next time I will be more careful with my mean words. Or you could just lighten up.

Funnily enough, Pickachu, most posters here like to remain fairly open-minded and like the freedom TW awards in criticising Bowie's lacklustre material. Why, one needs only a cursory glance of some of my most successful threads during my tenure ('Why hasn't Bowie released a good album post-Scary Monsters?' and 'Why doesn't Bowie just drop dead now if Reality is the best he can do?') to know that drooling labyluvrrs are distinctly out of place so long as they retain their persecution complex and nave everyone-here-should-worship-bowie outlook.

Which, basically, is why everyone thinks DumpyDogz is a tool.

My expert analysis: This track whiffs as bad as one of Beltene's farts!

Adam and Pablo, shame on you for posting TWICE to make it look as though twice as many people agree with you!

There stands your fatal error Matt, you compere him to others, I have never done that nor shall when it comes to music and his style.

That's right, it is how you feel. It is not necessarily how it is. Believe it or not.

Now I know how an average Phil Collins fan thinks. If you don't compare the bald twat to anyone else he seems like a bloody genius. Let's just all admit that Dave's recent output sucks bollocks big time. Personally I consider Heathen an odd exception...

Re: Brick House new [re: RabbitFighter]

What I mean RF is that Bowie has always been very different, he would always set trends rather then follow others, Im sure you'll agree on that side of it? Bowie is different and that is what appeals to me and always has, even his most catchy songs always have that one irritating section that you love, a note played out of context, odd vocals that at first you might consider really out of step, but it's that aspect which has made him unique.

I would say that's probably his best album for a long time.

No, the David Bowie I know is the leech who jumps into a scene that someone else started and creates a wonderful piece of art before choosing his next destination. Unfortunately that David Bowie has been dead for over two decades now. The corpse just comes up with wonderful individual songs and reasonably good albums every now and then.

Im not so sure? fair enough the 1970s were his, he was always reinventing himself, I still think he has the capabilty of surprising us even now, time will tell.

Im happy with that, there is a limit too anybodies individual output and to be new today! is nigh on impossible I would think?

Re: (she can) do that new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

This song (from the snippet) is like standing in a shed with pop music blaring, but with a small CD player outside of the shed playing classic Bowie that you can barely hear.
Yeah I don't even know what that means.
