Re: Wow new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

Are you bad enough?

Thanks very much Alan, I don't care what people may say about the track, I adore it and find it very good, nice use of fast vocals too.

Hmm new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

Still sucks.

Though now I'd say it sounds like a segment from a Vegas show that's supposed to really be hip and edgy but really, really isn't.

marquis, do you always have this high opinion of yourself?

Nope. In reality, I'm a miserable self-loathing bastard, as RabbitFighter might say. But that sort of shit isn't much fun to post, nor is it any fun to read, so I affect the airs of an egomaniac from time to time - to hilarious effect!

See how much I love you guys?

Kids in their cars, cigarette smoking
And all that they are just reeks with the sweetest belief

I'll second that, its a really fun track and I like the transition from bridge to chorus, very effective, particularly after we have all been hearing the original snippet, its nice to know the verse and how it meets the chorus.

Re: Wow new [re: jump93]

I really don't mind the song (I've heard the full thing now) but I would have expected it to perhaps been a single. At least then, there'd be an explanation for the straight ahead rock/pop not to mention the notable absence of more fanciful, Bowie styled lyrics.

Is this another example in which the poppiest, most commercial tunes are not released as singles but rather kept for b-sides, bonus tracks and obscure soundtracks?

Re: Wow new [re: Adam]

First I didn't know quite what to think about the song as the snippet was too short. But now when I've heard the longer version I can say that I like the vocal part, although I wish Bowie used his deeper voice more often. But the chorus is not just uninteresting or even vapid. If it just didn't get me interested at first, I'd think that maybe later it will grow on me as it often happens. But the problem is- it's more than uninteresting- it's just plain annoying and what seems annoying already at start gets only more annoying with time. I would not want this song to be a single because, in truth, I am ashamed of that chorus. It's too disgustingly sweet and poppy sounding- not something I wish Bowie to be associated with. Not that I mind Bowie singing something sweet sounding, but not something like this.

''I like reality a lot! I'm hungry for it.'' - David Bowie

Re: Wow new [re: boguswoman]

I feel the same way. I've worked hard to convert people to Bowieism (or Bowiethology) and I wouldn't want any of them to hear this chorus. What could I possibly say to them? How could I look them in the eye again?

I now know how soldiers who have to tell children their parents ain't coming back from the war must feel.
