So... he made it a year ago, to a movie that isn't in theatres yet? Not very likely

No you get me wrong Sys, I didn't mean he recorded it before his illness, but after his illness as a contractual obligation.

As for him being his own man and recording what and when he pleases? no-one is that big to escape a contract in some form or other.

I'll agree with you that this was propably done in a day or so. there's very little value to the song. i can imagine daivd sitting thinking "hmmm. the movie is kind of like Top Gun..." the lyrics show no poetry or any attempt to be poetic. I think he just likes being active musically and has wanted to work with BT. I enjoy the song, and perhaps it will hint at the album.... Let's Dance was a pretty good album - dancey and still bowie. who knows....

but i am also an Arcade Fire fan, and agree that i'd like to hear some off-the-wall indie rock from him.

I think it is the nature of the questions rather than the fact that questions itself. - Pablo (thanks to Marquis for pointing that out)

Kristeen Young is credited for backing vocals but I can't spot
her anywhere. Has anyone heard her duet with Bowie on her
album "Breasticles"?

can't hear her either, asked her if she contributed vocals, waiting for an answer ...

"saviour" is a great song, but kristeen is doing better on other songs ... "breasticles" and "x" are great ...

My opinion of this new song ? bleah.

it's repetitive, and not in a good, John Cage meets the Residents and they all go hang out with DB and Eno in the studio kind of way. but in a way that means DB was asked if he could write a song for a soundtrack. He wrote one very quickly and that was that.
No heart, no meaning, just soundbites and a boring backbeat...

"A" is for Atonal, artfully adding audible auras

Despite not rating the song very highly in the Bowie cannon, its annoyingly catchy and I find myself trying to conduct my daily business and going "Do that, do that, do that dooo that!"

Fah new [re: Sysiyo]

In reply to:

I was expecting something akin to Gary Numan's I Can't Stop (the title '(She Can) Do That' would fit perfectly, "she can, do that / she can, do that again / she can, do that")... The only problem is... it's worse.

It would've fit perfectly on Reality; it's the aural equivalent as that album's cover and probably took about as much effort to produce.

Re: (she can) do that new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

I was in Virgin Megastore the other day and they played '(She Can) Do That' over their internal radio. This got me wondering whether promo CD singles are going about in advance of a possible single release, or whether the DJ just cherry picked it off of the recently released Stealth Soundtrack.
