"Top Gun Bowie," indeed, Sam_X. It is a collaboration for a soundtrack and thus a one-off sound, I'm sure. For example, did anything else Bowie did in the 80s sound like his one-off soundtrack collaboration with Pet Metheny on This Is Not America? I think not.
Oh, and bfp, does he say "Keith Kool" or "Keep Cool"? I hear the latter.
Final verdict: It's catchy and it's nice our man's ass is doing something other than attending premiers, plays, art shows and award ceremonies. I'm sure it's not a forerunner of any "new sound" for the alleged forthcoming album, whenever the fuck THAT will be.

It is Keep cool. Blammo says as much on Bnet.

That's what I thought. So maybe Bowie ought to do what Paris Hilton tried to do when she wanted to freakin' patent her catch-phrase "that's hot!"--as if no one else ever says that. Bowie can try to buy the exclusive rights to "Keep Cool." And we can all pay him royalties when we use the phrase. Could be a better deal than all them re-issues. Hmmmm.

It's shit, just like Reality and Heathen and hours before it. Bowie should retire if this is all he's capable of these days.

I like the shoutout to "Keith Kool" at the end of the snippet.
Well, except that his name's Kool Keith.
And out in the dark the world is still rolling Kids in their cars, cigarette smoking And all that they are just reeks with the sweetest belief

It's hard to tell with a snippet.
I couldn't tell from the advance snippets on Reality and hours - was there heathen snippets?
My current verdict on the song is that it's about par with Real Cool World.

Wonderful time to discover that my bastard speakers are bust!
No, getting new speakers won't make it sound any better.

Rather harsh criticism Matthew, why do you find it nessesary to be so vile with your languge? Ok it's not a great masterpiece, but put into perspective it's his first real piece of work since his illness and what's more I rather like it.

Because he has said it adds color to his writing -- By God it needs it.

And pigs might fly (if somebody pushes him from his apartment window) Marquise is a Rap fanatic so this shitty collaboration will not be violent or wordy enough for his taste.

There may be some good to get from it.
I remember with 'American Dream' although I didn't like it, I remember thinking, wow listen to his voice - all those high pitched "woo-hoos". After the lethargy of 'hours...', I began to get excited about how the next album would sound, even from just this inane tripe of a track.
Damn those snippets!
Its about time I had a signature
