Zigbot: Sooooooooooooo . . . is this Fashion Rocks thingy broadcast on US TV? If so, what channel? What time?
According to Bnet, it will air the next day (9/9) on CBS at 9:00 pm.
In reply to:
BFP: I believe last years version was aired on A&E at one time or another.
It did indeed. I was working there at the time, and have a near-master quality recording of it that I can put on DVD if anyone's interested.
In reply to:
Claude: I got two tickets for the show!!!!! and so my wife and me will be there.......in NEW YORK!!!!! I have never seen New York.....so I will stay there for a week!!!!
I got myself a single ticket (in the far balcony--no more front row for me, I'm afraid.) I'll see you there, Claude!
Oh, and yes, this reemergence of Bowie to the stage might just be enough to bring me out of semi-retirement, assuming the news continues...

This from Bowienet just now...
There's no smoke without Arcade Fire, You're exactly who I want to be with...
Speaking of Montreal, (see yesterday's news) rumours abound that David Bowie will be backed by Montreal outfit The Arcade Fire at Fashion Rocks in New York next month. (07.27.05 NEWS: DB WILL PLAY FASHION ROCKS AT RADIO CITY)
Well, if it's true that some things are worth waiting for, I think you'll agree that David Bowie and The Arcade Fire together onstage would definitely be one of those things. Therefore, you'll just have to wait and see!
Who likes the idea of Bowie performing with the Arcade Fire? and why.
In reply to:
Why does Bowie put his voice through filters?
I think Lennon did the very same thing, that and multi-tracked vocals, I've heard Beatles fans say this is because Lennon didn't like his own voice.

Lennon, two "n"s in the middle.
I for one like filtered vocals very much. They make a vocal delivery much more interesting.

As a rule I don't mind treated vocals, however, I find them very irritating on some of the hours tracks.

Like with everything in music, treated vocals can be used well or poorly. And like almost every feature on Hours, they have been executed poorly.

I found it hard to listen to "Zoo station" in the beginning, but I got used to it rapidly. Then I loved it.

It has always been my dream that Bowie recorded an album using Phil Spector as producer or even Brian Wilson, can you imagine the sound? Bowie's vocals would be heaven, one day maybe or is it too late now?
