I do, he wasn't interested in this release when it came out originally, it was just a contractual obligation. This album will not be rereleased.

Never the less, he is right. It's highly unlikely that Bowie would let EMI reissue that album (especially as ChangesOne remains unrereleased). However, it is possible it's being reissued on some cheapo label, using older masters (ryko or the originals). A similar thing was done in 2003 when some label whose names escapes me right now reissued Tonight and NLMD using the masters of the 1995 reissues, but dropping the bonus tracks. Something similar might be afoot here.

Yep that's the one saw it mentioned last night as I was trawling through pages on amazon, they have a version of Tonight on that cheapo sounding label.

It would be nice to think it's a 1985- 2005 second volume to accompany the still inprint ChangesBowie.
But I know it isn't.

Or the real continuation to ChangesOneBowie, covering the years 1977-1987 (or thereabouts anyway).

Nevertheless it's a grand idea I have the original CHANGESONEBOWIE and CHANGESTWOBOWIE on very good condition RCA CDs, do you think perhaps there could be re-issues of these with bonus tracks? keeping the original artwork of course.
Just a thought.

I do love my Bowie compilations... esp. ChangesTwo.
I hope they put them out on cassette with white tape cases and the old style RCA inlay.
Tell me truthfully... am I sad?

Agreed! but these wouldn't be your ordinary best ofs, these would be anniversary/collectors editions, seriously Alan I think it makes a good idea, keep the same artwork as I mentioned and include some bonus tracks, It's probably a good way to have bonus tracks we would have liked on other re-issues.

If they want to give us something good, forget the past and just release the rarities, is an anthology style release, haven't we bought the same old same old enough times? Whay should we buy Space Oddity, Changes and Fame once more, just to get some rarities? Besides which, releasing a 'best of' and adding demos, unreleased tracks etc would just sound too incongruous. If someone wants to get ChangesOne and Two, do what you did, or better still buy the vinyl, after all it is the artwork you are buying, you have all the tracks and I would prefer a 12x12 version of the artwork to a 5x5 facsimile.

It's always easy being wise afterwards, but never the less: what EMI should have done when they got Bowie's rights was re-release ChangesOneBowie, with extended tracklisting but material taken from the 69-76 period and "re-release" ChangesTwoBowie as a similar set covering 77-87 (or '86, leaving out NLMD). A few years later they could have been joined with ChangesThree, covering the rest up until Hours (presuming it would have been released before Earthling).
And they could have just forgotten about The Best Of Bowie & Co. (sans the DVD).

And the thing is the artwork is ready on this site for the subsequent volumes. It is a shame Changestwo was a bodged job to begin with though. If it had followed on where one left off it would have been so much better. But then there were some classics missing from the first volume too.

Where abouts please Alan? do you mean that CHANGESTHREEBOWIE boot I posted a while back, I have often wondered how many volumes we would have been on now, had they continued, I don't care if the track listing is botched, they look and sound great and that is what matters IMO.
In reply to:

Such as please, bearing in mind these were originally vinyl and time was tight.

Well without even thinking, one of his biggest hits between 1969 and 1975 was Life on Mars and that isn't on there, also Drive in Saturday.
Regarding the album covers, I remember Adam showing some Changes covers using pictures from the Hunger.

Yeah that was very wrong to omit these two songs, the album contains 11 tracks as we know, so do you think it was because of time being tight on vinyl, or RCA being greedy and thinking of future volumes?

Just time being tight, I always found it odd though that LOM was ommited yet Changes was put on, when it wasn't even a hit in the first place, then there is Ziggy and Suffragette city, one never a single, the other a total flop when released in 1976. I just compiled a month ago a 96 track, 5 cd set of every UK single released from 1964 until 1993 and every worldwide single released thereafter. If they wanted to do anything, that is the scope they should go for, or not bother.

That sounds just the ticket , I really hope one day we have such a release as this, as with all the fab ideas thought of by fans, I fear these sort of releases will only come about when Bowie has died, then it's the free for all.
