So essentially it's exactly the same as 1999's David Bowie Series, only released eight years later? I don't think they could get more useless. At least they could have done something worthwile and include Tin Machine II and Buddha on the series, but no...

I haven't a clue, but I was under the impression the card sleeve ones are Japan only. But even if they aren't, a piece of cardboard that's more easily damaged than plastic and is more likely to damange the discs themselves do not make a worthy reissue program.

a worthy reissue program
Jesus, when was the last worthy reissue? I'm thinking last year's versions of David Live and Stage, would that be it?

for me the 30th anniversary reissues (including DL and Stage) have been a mixed bag. I love the adventurous packaging, but problems with the bonus tracks and mastering and dodgy sleevenotes have made them inconsistent. I'd say the 2002 ZS one is the one I still have a look at most... even though it is falling apart.

I thought the sound quality of David Live was a bit blippy, but I didn't know if it was the copy-protection wreaking havoc or just my dodgy hi-fi system. I dunno how Stage sounds though, the darn thing is still in its shrinkwrap.
It's just amazing that there's so much stuff either in bootleg form waiting for an official release, or stuff no one's heard, that's left languishing, and in the meantime we keep getting the same material trotted out every couple of years...
