Re: Bowie Lends Vocals to Scarlett Johansson Album! new [re: Adam]

I've managed to find myself a copy of the CD.

After listening to it, it could possibly be a fake, because most of the tracks are waaaaay too tinny and HER voice is shit (like she was in an empty grocery store, randomly singing down the aisle and someone was in the next one recording her - it sounds that empty and its so low under the music, that it's hard to understand a word she sings).

BUT after listening to some of the samples on Amazon, and then the link for Falling Down that Adam posted, the tracks - comparatively speaking - sound real. Although I still found myself skipping thru the tracks because they are "noise" and nothing more.

But the CD as a whole, sucks. I think that all the people, esp ScarJo, who made this record tried to hard and rushed it. The tracks that don't sound like you're in a soup can chewing on copper, sound like someone forgot to mix down the tracks and equalise everything.

Regardless of who lends their voice to it. I wouldn't reccomend this album to my enemies.

In reply to:

First time a banjo has been featured in the same recording as deebee?

There's an old story about Bowie constructing the riff of 'Lust for Life' on a banjo but yes, as far as I recall, this is the first time I've heard Bowie's voice with a banjo. There's an excellent use of banjo (and mandolin) courtesy of Bowie's band members on a Finn Brothers track called 'Disembodied Voices'.
