As you are ceratinly the one who knows the difference between a Gabriel and a Collins track.
Is this an attempt at sarcasm? Seriously, I'm curious. I don't see what you're going for here. Like, at all.
I'm sure that it's just over my head because you're a "serious poster" and therefore always have very important, well-formed opinions while the lesser posters like myself just like to play with our feces and belly buttons. You know, like some sort of inferior lineage... What's the word I'm looking for here?
Anyways, ignore that middle part and please answer the question. Because as it stands now it makes you look stupid. Which you probably are but still...

Yes, you spotted that well. As always. But as you say, it is stupid.
Any further opinions on the subject matter of this thread from you? I'd like to read them.

So explain to me the point of said sarcasm. Were you implying that Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel actually are hard to distinguish from one-another? Or was it just a blind, random stab in the dark with no real focus? I honestly can't see the point to that "witty" comeback of yours.

Why don't you start to explain why you suggested a Collins song when the discussion was about what Gabriel track would be a good choice as a cover? That would enlighten me.

They were both in Genesis, made at least one cool video in the 80s, and currently suck?
Seriously, what happened to Peter Gabriel? Every song on this record sounds like that horrible abomination from the end of WALL*E.

What's wrong with the song from WALL*E? I'd easily take a slightly mushy Peter Gabriel song over yet another Randy "Enough With The Fucking Ragtime" Newman song about being bestest friends.

1) they both sang for Genesis. 2) Peter Gabriel developed that cymbal-less drum sound with Phil Collins on Biko. Phil later went on to use that same sound for In the Air Tonight. 3) They have similar qualities to their singing voices. I suspect that it's intentional on Phil's part but have nothing to back that up other than the fact that he seems like the type. See Invisible Touch era for what small proof I have. 4) They both lost any real edge that they had in the 80's and now make a very similar sort of "adult contemporary" sound. Much like Sting, who I also referenced (but that apparently made perfect sense to you). 5) It just seemed funny, especially given all of that. To me. 6) You need to stop trying to analyze my posts. You clearly just don't "get it." And that's fine.

It gets worse. A recent article in the Times 'CULTURE' magazine has an article on the album. Peter Gabriel explains "Bowie didn't want to play .... Brian Eno says David is not very interested in music any more".
Fuck.
Richard Kingsmill (Triple J FM): "Do you mind if we throw to a song by your old man?. Duncan Jones (Bowie's Son): "Oh God ... if you have to ... OK ... but have a look at Nick Armstrong and The Thieves"
