The album continues to rise on the European charts, quite amazing when you consider there is no single, video or tour to promote the album.

Toy has topped the UK charts for 3 consecutive weeks, now certified gold! Also topped the charts in Denmark and Sweden.
Thanks to robpongi's promotional work, Toy finally enters Japan's music charts with a bullet at No.9 !
Toy first Bowie album to enter the USA top 10 in ~27 years.

Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who's planning a Toy burning rally this weekend, says he will go through with the event despite warnings from Teenage Wildlife.
Jones said his rally is aimed at the "radical" Bowie fans like Dogz and not moderate Bowie fans..



Miami's Mayor Bloomberg said Terry Jones, the Florida pastor has every right to burn the Toy album – even though he finds it distasteful.
"The First Amendment protects everybody, and you can't say that we're going to apply the First Amendment to only those cases where we are in agreement," he added.

So am I the only one who finds it weird the buzz this album's getting, seeing as it basically just sounds like heathen minus the more atmospheric stuff? I mean "Hole In The Ground" is amazing, granted, but given the lack of promotion I continue to be impressed by the reaction it's getting.

The other day I was walking to the post office and passed "Bang-on" which is a sort of hipster iron-on T-shirt shop and they had a full display of bowie shirts in the window, dead center there was one with the Toy booklet art (the shot where he's holding the toy towards the camera, half drawn like Scary Monsters). I'm really wondering what clicked this time.

Yeah I know it is amazing how this album has taken off, maybe because its his first album in 7 years.

I continue to be amazed by the album's great performance in Finland. With little promotion and hardly any radio play, an album in a style that doesn't normally do well here had managed to perform exceptionally well.
