(Part of article introduction):
"....Welcome to the worlds of Tilda Swinton. Actress, artiste, agente provocatrice, ubermodel and mother, the 40 year old Bowie Queen of Scots reigns supreme over a veritable Bermuda triangle of parallel universes"
(On the relevance of fashion in her life):
"I was always drawn to performers like David Bowie, whose collaborations with designers Kansai Yamamoto and, in particular, Freddie Buretti contributed so much to the spirit of his work, including and beyond the music. In many ways I'm envious of the logical continuity this afforded him. He seemed always dressed up as no one but himself. Fashion for me - outside of the films - is a question of play and of identity and the shapeshifting combo of the two, beyond anyone else's projection. It's about luxury and wit. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes....."
(On her 5 year old twins Honor and Xavier):
Q ~ What music do your twins enjoy?
A ~ "Honor - Fleetwood Mac, The Smiths, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake.
Xavier - Neil Young, David Bowie, Badly Drawn Boy and Nick Cave."
Q - They seem to have very advanced music taste!
A ~ "My children seem to be drawn to people like David Bowie and Joni Mitchell. But then, they would, wouldn't they? Talk about force feeding, poor things: what hope did they have? We watch the Bowie DVD and they twitch a little when Life On Mars? comes on.... I think they assume Bowie is a relation. He certainly always felt that way to me"
(sorry, I broke rule number 1 - about markup and extra stuff, but I'd never heard of her, and I actually bought this mag in a 2nd hand store on the strength of the cover image alone so I had to include it here!!)
