Despite its official look, this is a bootleg.

Re: Christain F soundtrack new [re: GoodMorningGrrl]

Unfortunetly, bootlegs by nature never become overly valuable because they are openly duplicated and distributed by traders. Although your packaging may list your recording as "rare" or "limited", don't believe it. Now you may come across an individual willing to spend some money on a fatory original boot, but not the kind of cash one would spend for a limited edition promo!

The value of discs will continue to plummet as the price of creating pressed discs continues to fall. Every recording studio lackey and record fair shill are creating their own "re-releases" at will. There are even folks downloading low quality MP3's from the Internet and pressing them. It's amazing how low some will sink to make a buck!

However, the "official" verison of the Christiane F soundtrack may be worth something one day...?

I always searched for the official ChristianeF.soundtrack but never found it in my town :( I am considering about purchasing via internet - althought I am a little scared with these hackers all around.

Re: Christain F soundtrack new [re: wlovedb]

I have had this vinyl soundtrack selling at Teenage Wildlife's Classifieds for a couple of weeks now:

Christiane. F Wir Kinder Vom Bahnhof Zoo. LP (RCA) US$7.00 (GBP 5.00 NZD$15.00)
Original Soundtrack VG/G condition
Plus US$3.00 for postage & handling Total: US$10.00

I saw that you're looking for it so hopefully this is an option. :)

Re: Christain F soundtrack new [re: Bodacea]

US $ 10.00 is cheap for a VG condition original Christiane F soundtrack album. Here in Germany, that 12" vinyl album is being sold for about DM 50,-- (US $ 25.00).

Re: Christain F soundtrack new [re: ANDYCROCK]

that bootleg is really great. Very good sound quality and a very nice cover artwork.

There is another (more rare) Christiane F. bootleg CD around. It doesn't contain those bonus tracks, but only the Christiane F. soundtrack album. But this (very rare) bootleg CD's sound quality is much worser than the one you mentioned. It's copied from vinyl and you can hear some cracklings.

Re: Christain F soundtrack new [re: cmueller]

I just bought this bootleg for 35 guilders (about US$15), but some of the tracks are copied from vinyl! Anyway I'm happy with it cause it has some tracks that I didn't have on cd yet.

I found a vinyl of this I picked up for $5 a few months ago. I've heard that it's getting re-released on CD sometime soon.

Re: Christain F soundtrack new [re: TheDeuce]

I have the boot referred to in this thread but I have been on the lookout for the original vinyl for years and have never found it (haven't checked ebay or such places yet though). How did you get so lucky Deuce and for $5.00!?! Happy for ya though.

"Bootlegs never get RARE or worth money. Is that true????"

Not so true nowadays.

Vinyl bootlegs from 70's & 80's are getting rarer and demand for them pushes prices higher. At a record fair some of the well know ones were going for £30-£50 for a single LP. CD bootlegs go for £10-£15 per CD - although after a few years they'll gor for more (one double cd on ebay is going for £40 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1505696693 )

A lot of bootlegs now get transferred to CD from old vinyl copies - Ive got the infamous Thin White Duke concert - but in collecting terms a LOT of collectors love having the original vinyl edition.

Now should I go for this one??

DONTTOUCHTHATDIAL new [re: kuffdam]

I once briefly owned a copy. Bought it. Taped it. Sold it for a small profit.
Sound quality isn't great and performance isn't exceptional, but a piece of record industry history...

The beauty and the beast new [re: ANDYCROCK]

In reply to:

got the soundtrack on cd with bonus tracks of beauty and the beast ( 12'' extended version),

When I got this bootleg a few years ago, I was expecting great things from The beauty and the beast extended version, that I had been trying to get hold of for nearly 20 years. I was disappointed to learn it just has a section of the song repeated to make it longer. No wonder that version never got a commercial release.

Ended up selling for 102 pounds ($144).
I should have hung on to mine.

Noticed that a German round cover recently sold for $750...
