The Man Who Kicked/Shouted At The World new

I was browsing through some vinyl at a second hand shop and I came across two different versions of TMWSTW. The first is the US version with the cartoon cover and the second the Ziggy rerelease version. Basically, I was just wondering how un/common they are as compared with the original drag cover and which one would be a more worthwhile purchase.

Off the top of my head new [re: poorsoul]

The Ziggy re-release version is not rare at all. If you're looking for the collector value, this isn't the one to get.

The cartoon cover is extremely rare if it's an original release, but I'd bet that it's a counterfeit. Counterfeits pop up occasionally in used shops; I saw a few at Amoeba in L.A. I've yet to find any indication of what the relative value of the counterfeit cartoon cover is.

More about the counterfeit MWSTW covers is available here.

Thanks, that's the sort of advice I was looking for. Next time I'm out that way I'll make sure to check the matrix printing. Chances are it's a fake 'cause it wasn't selling for all that much.

TMWSTW CD new [re: poorsoul]

OK, another question, along similar lines (and for the second time, as my browser inexplicably decided to close the window when I pressed Ctrl + Tab).

Being an avid chaser of the Ryko/EMI bonus track releases, I've come to acquire a fair number of them. Now, I've noticed that they all seem to have a similar style of artwork on the CD face, i.e. an image of David's face from the time, with simple colouring and little detail. All of them, that is, except for one: The Man Who Sold The World.

I've checked it out on this site and it is supposed to feature the same style of illustration on the CD. However, my copy simply has a text listing of the tracks and publishing info. Any ideas on this?

Hi Poorsoul, check what country the cd's from - my Japanese Low Ryko cd has no pic disc, just the plain silver with track listing. Both the UK (EMI) & USA (Ryko) discs have the pics on them.

Congratulations. You're fat Elvis.

OK, that makes it rather odd, then, as it is a UK release. Everything about it tallies with the information on that site - except for the plain silver facing.
