Re: Hemel 1972 new [re: downunder2]

it could still be out there somewhere. I mean i had Aylesbury 71 since 79,so it`s possible to say it`s out there somewhere, who knows the sound might be good as well.

Re: Hemel 1972 new [re: NiCad]

You had Aylesbury 71 since 1979?
Why the FUCK did it take you so long to be able to share it with the rest of us?
Anything else in your collection that you will be sharing after 20 years?
This makes me sad

because thats the way that cookie crumbled.i don`t have anything else of any value,so thats me cleaned out.if u write things like that PEOPLE WITH RARE STUFF will think twice about releasing it,i took enough stick at the time, and it made me think twice

Re: Hemel 1972 new [re: NiCad]

Well I think we should be happy with every rare recording we get our hands on, and it's not that big a deal if it takes a couple of years I guess.
You should also take into consideration that that Aylesbury 71 recording is of such high quality because it was never traded. I mean, some Ziggy masters should be pretty good quality, but it's 30 years of copying them that makes the copies in circulation now sound less good.

whew!! strong reply Ardent.
I hear ya on being bummed that it has taken so ong for the tape to emerge, but if I had any rare stuff (which I don't, sorry)
I would not be too responsive to a 'what the F@#K' type question.

Well, maybe I was a bit too harsh.
If so, I am sorry...
But I simply cannot understand why someone can be so selfish as to not share...
I Immediately traded the 74 reward footage i got, even though I knew I was literally the only one to have it.

Re: Hemel 1972 new [re: ArdentDesir]

ha! that's cool Ardent. i was being pretty self-righteous saying how people should or should not interact....

Gut reactions from both of us.
the truth is, I agree with you that it would be ideal if people just shared the stuff freely. Hell, over at furthurnet, you can d/l ENTIRE concerts of all sorts of bands for free in minutes...
Talking Heads, Belew etcetc...

It's up to everyone to do as they see fit.
I'm always burning shows and making videos for people to ive away....sometimes for trade, sometimes just to turn the people on to new cool stuff that I think they would like.
It all comes back in some form

Re: Hemel 1972 new [re: ArdentDesir]

the problem is twofold, first you have collectors who have spent years and unaccountable sums of money feeding their collecting habit, second you now have a vast group network which can distribute at an amazing and voracious speed, sometimes with little or no appreciation of the material.
the first group are becoming more and more protective of their expensive and time consuming collection because the second group want instant and unreserved access = problem.
me, i'm for spreading the wealth, others are more protective, i can understand. however the material will eventually get out, unfortunately there is still a large amount i am waiting (patiently) for, and would bore you if i revealed the content... it will eventually surface. end of sermon.

Re: Hemel 1972 new [re: downunder2]

Thanks WR - As are you :)

And I agree with you 100% downunder2.....
Many people spend lots of time, energy and cold hard cash to build up their collection. They are proud of it and the proctective element is understandable. Especially knowing that a lot of this golden stuff can easily be distributed to people who do not really appreciate the music.
I guess you just gotta have faith that the people who most want it will get it and appreciate the music, and those who do not will find other stuff...

Re: Hemel 1972 new [re: NiCad]

Yes, the tape does exist. Quality wise it's pretty up there with the best of the 72-74 material. Setlist wise pretty much same as Kingston 72, however this has a full live version of 'Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud' which makes the tape pretty unique. I think a few have gone over the reason why I have not let the tape out. Feel free to PM me to suggest trades for tapes NOT in circulation.
