Unheard Ziggy Tunes?

I was reading a bowie biog from 1979 that had a listing of tow ziggy songs i have never come across. It said that a rock version of "White Christmas" and an encore of "I saw her Standing There" were on some setlists around X-mas 1972 when he toured the UK. "This Boy" is mentioned in the same paragraph, so it is not a mix up on song titles.

I know that only a handful of ziggy shows were tapes, so maybe the songs have yet to circulate. This book is also 24 years old, and misinformation were quite prevelent in Bowie literature.

Anybody have the inside scoop. I only have 2 ziggy boots in my collection, yet I have read all the online bootleg information. It's the first time I've read about these two songs.

Re: Unheard Ziggy Tunes? new [re: bowiefanpeter]

I heard a very poorly recorded version of Bowie singing "This Boy" and I think it was at the old Cyberspace oddity .com which doesn't exist anymore. I've never heard him cover "I saw her standing there" or the rock version of White Christmas. I can see him doing a camped up version of Bing's classic though.

Look in the discography section here in teenage wildlife and look up this boy. then click the song and it will play for you. Unfortunately it's not great sound.

Sorry new [re: bowiefanpeter]

I haven't heard anything like this either, I'm afraid.

also... new [re: T.J. Newton]

I Can't Explain was also played on some Ziggy dates... along with oddities such as Gotta Get A Job, I would be very surprised if further odd covers didn't creep in , especially at Xmas. Remember the appeal for all the audience to bring toys for Dr. Barnardo's homes?

Re: also... new [re: russellmael]

I am discounting this rumour from now on. I think there would have been more concrete evidence by now, at minamal audience members rememberance of the events. I'm sure I would recal "A Glam Christmas" and an additional Beatles songs.

Re: also... new [re: bowiefanpeter]

Hi,
But that they were played could be an audience recollection! I would side with the older references... I have heard some bizzare (and impossible) recollections of this tour... and they just get confused with time. An old source maybe correct, even if you have never heard that rumour before.
