The Heart's Filthy Remix
|
|
|
I was hoping that the Bowie experts here might help me out a bit. I'm trying to get my hands on all the different versions of The Hearts Filthy Lesson. There seem to be a few overlaps of different titles, and I haven't found sufficient explanations on any site. Also, I would appriciate it if some could help me get my hands on the mixes I'm missing. I've bolded the ones I'm looking for.
So, which ones of these mixes are the same?
Alt. Mix (aka NIN/Trent Reznor mix) Bowie Mix Simenon Mix Good Karma Mix Rubber Mix Simple Text Mix Filthy Mix
(I hope that made sense. It seems I'm not quite in my most coherent today.)

Ok here goes
Alt. Mix (aka NIN/Trent Reznor mix) 5:20 on both uk and us cd singles Bowie Mix 4:57 AKA album version Simenon Mix 5:01 on the us cd single Good Karma Mix 5:00 on the 2nd Dead man walking cd Rubber Mix not heard this but it is on the Japan Hallo spaceboy cds and is a different mix to the others Simple Text Mix Filthy Mix The last three are all on the UK 12" side b, and as such they must all be different mixes to the above. They must also be different to the alt mix and bowie mix as they make up the a side of the aforementioned 12".
Hope this helps

Full details on http://www.illustrated-db-discography , go here for more info about the individual remixes and where to find them: http://www.illustrated-db-discography.nl/SongGH.htm#H (Scroll down a little).
There is an Argentinean promo cd that contains most of these mixes, some of them are only available on cd on that promo.

Rubber Mix - not heard this but it is on the Japanese Hallo Spaceboy CDS and is a different mix to the others
Seven minutes and forty-four seconds of the best Bowie remix ever. As much as I like the original, this version is so much better than Hunky Dory.

Thank you very much. It seems my skills of navigating the illusitrated discography need to be improved a bit.
Thanks to everyone else.
Now I'll have to try to find the Simenon/Good Karma mix and Filthy mix.

I can try and provide you with the Simenon mix, if you want. I warn you though, it's not really that different from the album mix. I can also provide you with an amazing live version from Earthling In The City.

Even if it isn't very different I'd still like to hear it... and I would be interested in hearing the EITC version as well. If you can provide them for me it would be great.

Nope. Apart from 'hours...' era, Bowie CD singles are practically impossible to find in Finland.

I'll see what I can do. If I can't provide them, however, I still suggest you seek the live version as it is, IMO, even better than the original.

Thanks, eventually a mystery is solved. I have sat skipping CDs back and forth, trying to hear even the slightest audible difference between the two versions without success.

I must admit, not though I have gone to such extremes, to finding most of the HFL mixes similar.

The Rubber mix is, of course, distinctive and if you've heard it you know it and you know why it's called that. Still pretty good.

The three mixes I've heard (NIN/Alt, Rubber and Simple Text) all sound quite distinctive to me.

You can try this; I'm pretty sure that's where I got it from but results aren't guaranteed. Just make sure to check the length before you start a download - it should be about 7:42.
