Can you see them now? I reposted them?

And I want to believe
In the madness that calls 'now'

It's still just a red x, EJ. Perhaps remote linking from 5years.com doesn't work for all browsers/other technical thingies which I know nothing of?

No, i got the white boot pic, but not yours.
Incidently, how does one get the picture on the posting rather than in an attachment on the side like mine?

pablo, what you need (besides of course some neato platform boots) is a photobucket account. it's free, and it lets you directly link to the picture. it gives you the url, and you just have to make sure [ image] and [ /image] are written around the url.

To place an image in the body of the post, you have to copy and paste the image's URL inside [ image] [ /image] tags. (Without the extra spaces inside the tags, of course.)

It's good to remember that some - well, most, actually - free webspace providers don't allow for remote linking (Geocities, Angelfire, Tripod..) in which case you get either one of those red exes or a nasty little banner telling you not to hotlink.

Also, it's considered both bad manners and actual bandwidth theft to remote link pictures from other people's websites, at least if you do it repeatedly. (If you hotlink to other sites, the owners of those sites have to pay for the traffic you've caused, so in a way you're actually stealing money from them.)

The best way to remote link to pictures is to sign up for a free host - I strongly recommend photobucket.com which is simple, fast, reliable and offers a huge amount of space - and upload the pictures in your account there. You'll get an easy URL for your picture that way, without any breaches of netiquette.

Okay, here's the boots from the photobucket. Still I can see the previous pic perfectly well but I will delete it now, convinced by the Fairy's arguments about linking.

I use the same and I see a big red X.

I've noticed it before, that you can see pictures that you've linked yourself, but for some reason other people do not see them.

I've often wondered about this too. Maybe you can see the pictures yourself because of cookies? I mean, the computer saves quite a lot of information about visited webpages.

aladynsane - you'll _never_ secure a good trade on this site - don't even waste your time trying to arrange one.
