I'm going to make DVD new

And I'd thought it would be a good idea to ask you lot what you would like to see on it. I'm a bit uncertain as to what would be interesting to put on there; I'd think stuff that's not floating around everywhere.

This will go on the DVD for sure:

* David gets an Edison For Ziggy Stardust (1974)
(Perfect Quality)
* French TV report from Cannes (1983)
This incorporates 1976 tour footage.
(Good Quality)

Errrm...I've got a lot of stuff......

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

Re: I'm going to make DVD new [re: ArdentDesir]

I have never seen these clips available, which top my wishlist:

76 Russel Harty TV interview 20+m
76 Grammy awards 2m
80 Carson show 9m Great clip that is nowhere near circulated enough.

I also think others would have trouble getting the Dallas 78 tv special from ABC televsion. about 20 minutes. I've seen it, but's its somehow unmemorable.

OK, Russel Harty will be on there, my copy is good.
My Carson...I'd have to check, it's quite ok....
Haven't got the complete Grammies, just a VERY short clip.

Dick Cavett, Cher and Soul Train are at the top of my list.

I'll be seeing YOU in New York, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, Kansas City, St. Louis, Wantagh, and Holmdel. So dress sharp.

My requests new [re: pablopicasso]

I saw all three at the Museum of Television and Radio's "Sound + Vision" retrospective they did in 2002 and they were among my favorites, particularly because Bowie was so coked out on Cavett, and the production of hte mid-seventies of television programming was so campy. I have since not seen them anywhere.

In the same retrospective, I also got to see the Dom & Nick directed "The Pretty Things Are Going to Hell" video, which was never released. If you've got that, I'd be quite interested in seeing that make it on there as well.

Re: I'm going to make DVD new [re: ArdentDesir]

I can think of 6 more great short clips I know circulate but I have trouble finding.

-Rock and Roll Suicide promo video(mick rock)
-Moonage Daydream video(mick rock)
-Ivor Novello Space Oddity 1969 (Bowie with long hair)
-Ziggy/Santa Monica promo video from early nineties(1 song, from mick rock filmed ZS show)
-Hype@Roundhouse late 60's 1 song
-pro shot video clip from 74 tour('97 VH1 Legends)1-2m

Has anybody seen any of these? Thay all sound really cool and are all in good quality.

Re: I'm going to make DVD new [re: bowiefanpeter]

Ivor Novello would help bolster the pre-Ziggy era (I've only seen it as an MPEG but the quality was excellent). The Ziggy/Santa Monica promo video is sometimes shown on RAGE. The others would be a most welcome addition. The key is to steer away from what we already have on The Best Of or other official releases. Other videos missing from The Best Of include:

- Pretty Pink Rose

- One Shot

- You Belong in Rock n Roll (one of my faves)

- Tin Machine Medley

- Under Pressure

- This is Not America

- Real Cool World

The 'I Can't Read' video is really tough to find and I have yet to see it on trade lists. I've only seen the version that may still be up on rollingstone.com

I Can't Read video new [re: bowiefanpeter]

Was this different from the 'dressing room sequence' that was shown at the end of the Bowie 50th Birthday pay per view concert?

D a V i D new [re: Adam]

I stopped collecting video material a while ago, and so haven't got many of the newer stuff that has surfaced. I have never seen the VH1 Legends programme for example- i'd love to see that 74 footage, and the Roundhouse clip.
The Ivor Novello awards are a different story altogether....

I'm going to watch a few Old Tapes today and I'll tell you if I find anything interesting.
A few years back I was trying to get this rare piece of film from someone....a curly haired Bowie doing Space Oddity....
It MIGHT be that the Ivor Novello came from this guy....Or..he's still holding on to his piece of film, which then would be a performance from "DoebiDoe" a dutch TV show from the sixties.
But I do have a lot of interesting Tin Machine stuff, Under Pressure, This Is Not America....

The Ivor Novello awards clip is great, a pleasure to see, and a unique version of Space Oddity to boot.

Re: I'm going to make DVD [re: Adam]

The Real Cool World video is interesting because the mix that is used is exclusive to the video. It's also better than the audio only single version.

The Video shown at the end of the 50th Bithday Show has the Credits running on top of most of the video. The Promo Video is the same except no Credits.

Re: I Can't Read video new [re: rimmie]

Rollingstong.com does have a video for ICR. It's mainly the dressing room sequece with some clips from the Ice Storm movie and some slow motion things from the 50th show.

In short, nothing new. I am slightly surprised that it didn't appear on the Ice Storm DVD. It only appears over the blacked out credits in that movie.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of this one. This may be me just not bothering to check through Pegg, but am I mistaken to think that there was promo clip for Under The God?

Sincere new [re: Grey_Nihilist]

It was pretty handy that they didn't have to hire an audience for it, though apparently they had their pitchforks and flaming torches confiscated by security. They didn't want the band being lynched before they got enough footage of them playing.

Re: I'm going to make DVD new [re: ArdentDesir]

I have selected three clips, which I am going to put up in BowieAudio (in the Video section :P) as soon as we have mastered them decently, which at the moment is Not yet the case. It will take a few days, maybe a week.( I hope- it all depends on certain software arriving in time)

They will be the Following Clips:

1) Edison Award.
Bowie receives an Edison award for "Ziggy Stardust" from the hands of TopPop presenter Ad Visser. This all happens at the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, Jan. 1974. Little Zowie is also present.

2) Soul Tour Clip
A pro-shot live clip, soundless, from late 74.
What I would like to know about these TWO seconds (!!) of
film, is if it is the same footage as was used in the "VH1 Le
gends" programme, (which I havent seen yet-but from the screencaps I've seen it looks like a slightly different camera angle), and if it is not, if it's from the same source/show.

3) Official Pro-Shot '76 Tour Footage.
From the Paris pavillion show, edited out of a French report on Bowie's appearance at Cannes in 1983.

:)

And more to come........

Re: I'm going to make DVD new [re: ArdentDesir]

Isn't the Russel Harty interview on the 'Best of Bowie' DVD as an Easter Egg? If your referring to the show where he sang 'Drive-in Saturday,' then the interview is a Easter Egg on the DVD.

Re: I'm going to make DVD new [re: ZiggyStarGirl]

No that Interview is from 1973,
The one we're talking about here was the on that he gave to Russel in 1975.
He refused to give up airtime from this sattelite broadcast, when he was asked to do so to announce General Franco's death in Spain. (Good on him-haha)

Re: I'm going to make DVD new [re: ArdentDesir]

We are having trouble with the software, and I am having troubles with my friend who can be infuriatingly irritating at some times, as i am to him.
So everything is taking longer than expected- he's a lazy sod.
But, we did manage to get ONE little piece: that elusive two seconds of Soul Tour footage, and it looks Great!
Expect to see it on Bowieaudio soon, or here, maybe even!
