Fashions picture disc set
|
|
|
I was just at a used record store and came across quite a few rarities I'd never even heard of. The one most worth mentioning (mainly because I want to see if it's really worth what they were asking for it) is Fashions, a collection of 14 picture disc 45's. It spanned everything from Space Oddity to the 80's with pictures of Bowie in all his various fashions. I've never even heard of this, but have a feeling it is worth more than they were asking for and might earn quite a pretty penny on eBay. Does anyone know about this or how rare it really is?
I'll be seeing YOU in New York, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, Kansas City, St. Louis, Washington DC, Moline, Columbus, Wantagh, and Holmdel. So dress sharp.

it was a beautiful set released in 82 and was one of the best things RCA ever did, I had the chance of a copy in 83 and couldnt afford it and regret it ever since. Very rare, copies come up on ebay but i can never keep up with the bids.
Believe everything I say, especially the lies.

It's not that rare (limited to 25000 or something), but it looks really good and it are 10 singles which doesn't make it cheap to start with. I got mine for around $50, but it sometimes goes for more. Don't pay too much though!

I have the set, it is really good and is one of my favourite parts of my Bowie collection, I paid £30 for mine a few years ago, I love the artwork on the cover and on the discs. How much was the set that you saw in the shop dukewhite?

It was $175, but they said it was bargainable, so I don't know how low they would have gone.

I'd say that that price was a bit too much, its valued here in the UK at about £40 which I think is roughly $85-$90.

Are you sure you didn't see that at the Arkansas Record Exchange? Around these parts, that owner is known as the Music Nazi.
If you don't have anything nice to say, go to London and say it in front of 2000 people. NM.

$175 is very overpriced. You can get it on Ebay for much less.
If you're quick I bet you can get this one for a good price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=306&item=4016059540&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Hi, dukewhite. Like pablopicasso, I couldn't afford this thing in '82-'83 either. I used to go to this cool record store in Seattle called Celophane Square and just ogle the thing to death. Never did get it, and still don't have it. It is lovely to look at, but $175 is a bit more than I think it's going for on eBay these days.
