Inside David Bowie DVD's
|
|
|
It's been a while since I posted here, so don't shoot me if the question has been answered a few times, but I came across a website which claims to sell 3 Bowie DVD's. Anyone got more info on these DVD's? The titles are:
- Inside David Bowie 1969 - 1974: The Limited Edition (2 Discs And Book) - Inside Bowie And The Spiders 1969 - 1972: An Independent Critical Review - Inside David Bowie: 1973-1975

Trash, seems like we're not the only ones who havn't been on for a while...seems really quite in here nowadays!
I bought the Inside Bowie and The Spiders and promptly took and back to exchange it. It doesn't have a great deal of information that a Bowie fan wouldn't already know, features an awful soundtrack (it's unofficial, so features no Bowie music) and isn't worth spending too much money on.

Disagreed, Your Honour: This is an opinion exchange about Bowie DVDs which may well take place in the "Views & Question" department.

In any case it certainly wouldn't belong in The News Today. We can work out a transfer to V&Q if you wish (but I must go to the Sauna now so it'll have to wait at least an hour).

It reads very well, all this information, 2 discs and a book, I've not seen it advertized yet, how much is it please? and what exactly do you get for your money.

I have no idea what's on it but after wasting money on that dreadful "Sound + Vision" DVD I have become very suspicious about those releases. I don't think they could come up with any rare material of real interest without being celebrated for that in the music magazines I read. So I think we have to rely on true bootleg DVDs and true official releases from the Bowie camp itself to get stuff of real singnificance. The rest appears to be not worth the money. I'd love to learn better though.

In all seriousness, I heard of one fan who said it was awful, I bought S+V and was disappointed, I wouldn't BUY another DB Story DVD, although I did download a really good one from SavageJaw a few weeks ago. It was on THE AMP channel or something, lots of actual Bowie on there.

Dreadful?!
That DVD is the ONLY available official source for LOTS of material!
There are snippets of the Roundhouse footage in 1970 There is footage of him in Paris, live 1976 There is just about the complete Grammy's apperance from 1975!
You try and find that Sundayboy! :)
I , for one, am VERY VERY happy with the very good
"Sound and Vision" DVD

The few intersting bits are all buried under too much uninteresting stuff presented in uninspired form. Not worth the price.
