"On a promotional tour of the US in January 1971, I was very kindly offered a room to crash in by the record producer Tom Ayers. At that time, Tom was producing one of the all time rock heroes, Gene Vincent. One night, at the recording studio, Tom asked whether I would like to jam or sing something with Gene. At that point, I had already written 'Moonage Daydream', 'Ziggy Stardust' and 'Hang On To Yourself'. We settled on 'Hang On To Yourself' and made a ghastly version of it which is floating around on eBay, I expect"
Many thanks Alan, so there you go Bowiefanpeter, It is true after all.

What bootlegs has Bowie "debunked" on BNet, besides the rumoured Penny Lane recording?
Bowie also took his Ziggy stance(one leg back, looking like he's sprinting) from Gene Vincent. Not sure if Bowie talked about it in print, but he talked about it at the Kelowna April 2004 gig.

Didn't know that, makes you wonder what he didn't copy from others , Not sure about that Penny Lane recording, as far as I know it was on one of those cheapo LPs from the late 60s, I thought it was a soundalike LP.

Well considering Chingaling wasn't released until 1984 and has never been released as a single, can you guess the rest?

Just take a look at this...

First time I've ever seen this cover sleeve, this would be the two versions without Ronno on guitar, lot of money though

Opps! sorry my mistake, I was under the impression these were the two versions as on the Ryko Space Oddity album, track 10 running for 7.07 mins.
So was there a single put out, without Ronno on guitar?

These are the tracks With Ronno, that appear as bonus tracks on the Ryko SO album, the only version without Ronno is the normal album version. The album version has never been split and was never a single. I have a combined full length version of the single on a cd somewhere as well that a friend mixed together for me.
