Ryko Days #2 new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

A different story here. In the early 90s, Bowie Rykos were full price ($25) but you might find them discounted to $17.99 if you spent endless hours scouring record stores. The same deal with The Beatles back catalogue. In fact, Bowie and The Beatles were probably the most prized of all catalogues and unfortunately they were the two artists I was interested in collecting. On the very rare circumstance of finding them second hand, they'd never go below $18. Things have changed now though ...... you can get brand new EMIs here for $8 (about 3 quid) if you know where to look.

I LOVE talking about the Ryko reissues. The differing font on the spine is something I noticed too. I think it fits in (with hindsight) that they were the early ones and therefore had slight differences to the later ones (although you are right... other Ryko releases by different artists have the same font as the latter Bowie ones.

And the white STS cassette spine. What's all that about?

Summer 1990 was brilliant... I remember waiting for those reissues and being SO excited. Good days.

Also... remember the Ryko boxsets? The Berlin trilogy in a boxset called 'Technical Unit' or something, and the flawed but welcome ZS box.

yes they were great days. And there was no internet to spoil the surprise of what the bonus tracks were going to be. With the exception of Aladdin Sane it turned out quite a treat. Prior to that all I had was some ropey quality cassettes with rare Bowie songs.

Ah yes. The Internet. Gives as much as it takes away.
